“Callum.” Camryn quickly grabbed the shirt he was about to throw away and asked with concern, “What are you talking about? What happened? Did she get involved with you?” Callum’s face was pale as he replied, “Carrie walked in quietly, hugged me from behind, and groped me. I thought it was you, but when I turned around and saw it was her, I lost it. I pushed her away, kicked her out, and hit her with whatever I could find.” Camryn was taken aback. She never imagined Carrie would dare to assault her partner by hugging and touching him so inappropriately. Callum was likely just as shocked by Carrie’s boldness. “Honey, she touched this dress. Throw it away. I don’t want it anymore! No other woman can touch me or my clothes—only you! I don’t even want my clothes!” With that, Callum snatched the shirt from Camryn’s hand and tossed it back into the trash can. “I’ll throw it outside for you. If you leave it here, you’ll see it every time you come in and out, and it’ll remind you of the disgusting things she did, making you feel sick over and over.” Camryn took the shirt back from him, then turned and walked out. Once outside the main house, she threw the shirt into the large trash can. As she saw Trenton approaching from the villa gate, she paused and asked, “Did she get away?”
“The second sister ran off as if her life depended on it. What happened, Eldest Sister? My brother-in-law suddenly got angry. I saw him smashing dishes on the second sister’s back—she must have gotten hurt; it looked red and swollen.” Trenton could never have guessed that Carrie would try to seduce Callum. “She deserves it. Callum can smash her to pieces.”
Death. I haven’t learned anything good, but I have learned a lot about her lack of shame.” Camryn brought his own mother into the conversation. Not only had her biological mother engaged in an affair with her uncle after marriage, but the two also conspired to murder her biological father in order to become a permanent couple and seize control of all the Newman family’s assets. She hesitated to share this with Trenton, fearing he wouldn’t be able to handle the truth. Trenton’s expression shifted slightly. “Sister, what did the second sister do? Why is Mom involved? Mom…”
Thinking back to how his mother first married his second uncle, gave birth to his eldest sister, and then killed his second uncle before marrying his father and having him and his second sister, Trenton grimaced at the realization that his mother may have been involved with his second uncle while he was still alive. His face darkened at his biological father’s words. Camryn scolded Carrie for her shamelessness, wondering if Carrie had quietly slipped back into the house and entered the kitchen to seduce her brother-in-law.
Trenton asked, “Did my eldest sister and second sister go to flirt with my brother-in-law?” Camryn didn’t respond, implying agreement. Trenton’s expression grew even more troubled. His hatred for Carrie intensified, and he couldn’t help but feel guilty. Ultimately, he blamed himself for allowing Carrie into their lives and for wanting to give her money. Carrie had dashed away as if fleeing for her life, leaving Trenton without the chance to hand her the more than one thousand dollars he had brought. How could Carrie act this way? Didn’t she claim to be terrified of Callum?
