Hayden reassured them, saying, “Don’t worry, I’ll be fine. I’m just going there to develop, and I’m not in direct conflict with Matriarch Farrell.” Serenity replied, “I’ll let Zachary know and ask him to arrange for two bodyguards to accompany you.” Liberty smiled and said, “You don’t need to tell me; Zachary has already made arrangements. He asked Jim and Milan to follow me to Jensburg, and I’m familiar with them.” Jim used to assist Zachary in dealing with Serenity, making him the bodyguard she was most comfortable with. Milan, who was later assigned to Serenity, was someone Liberty also saw often and was quite familiar with. Zachary assured her that these two were skilled and reliable, which made him feel at ease about Liberty’s trip to Jensburg.
“Seren, Zachary truly is a good man. He loves you wholeheartedly. Sonny and I both owe it to you. You should treat Zachary kindly and not be petty just because you’re pregnant. Please don’t bully him while I’m away,” Liberty urged. Serenity quickly replied, “Sister, I know; I won’t do anything like that. I promise to treat Zachary with all my heart. Don’t worry, I would never let your good brother-in-law suffer any injustice.” While most parents worry about their daughters being mistreated by their husbands’ families, Liberty was always concerned that Serenity might bully Zachary. Zachary often returned to his parents’ house to complain about Serenity.
Whenever there was a minor disagreement, he would go home and voice his grievances against her. It was indeed Serenity’s fault, but she never changed her behavior, prompting Zachary to seek support from Liberty.
“If Zachary tells me that you bullied him, you’ll wait for my return, and you’ll be in good hands.” Liberty pretended to scare Serenity, but her face was full of smiles. Serenity hugged Liberty and playfully said, “Sister, you are my sweet sister. Why do you always favor Zachary? Others worry that I might be bullied by my husband’s family, while you’re concerned that I might bully your brother-in-law. How could I possibly bully him? He can’t argue with me, and he won’t even try. He’s not clever enough to have a real argument with me. The most he can do is slam the door with an angry expression and then give me the silent treatment.”
