Being strict with him and fostering his independence from a young age was all it took for him to become his parents’ successor.
How could a successor lead if he wasn’t self-reliant?
He was still young, and although his parents didn’t openly express it, they were concerned. Now that he had reached adulthood, Carrie had become a problem after her release from prison. To protect the family property, his parents agreed to transfer it into his name.
He promised to ensure Carrie had her basic needs met. However, he would stop covering her living expenses once she could support herself. If Carrie were to marry in the future, he would certainly provide her with a substantial dowry.
He also made it clear that Camryn wouldn’t be interested in this small portion of their family property.
Camryn was seeking the justice that was rightfully hers.
“My parents won’t agree. They won’t agree. Don’t get your hopes up!” Carrie understood that her parents had made promises to Trenton, but she was only deceiving herself.
She couldn’t bear the thought that, in the end, her parents chose Trenton, their favored child, over her.
Was it because her younger brother was a son?
It became clear to her that her parents’ love for Carrie was merely a facade and could not compare to the preference given to a male heir.
Her parents had never considered handing the family property over to her!
Carrie struggled to accept this reality. Books and chapters are updated daily. Join & stay informed with all the latest updates…
Her parents claimed they were not patriarchal.
Since childhood, she had received everything she desired.
In contrast, her brother Trenton had to work for what he wanted, and even then, he sometimes went without.
Carrie had always believed that her parents’ hearts were completely devoted to her.
They would not love Camryn, and their mother merely wished for Camryn’s demise. The person they cherished most was Carrie!
Trenton observed Carrie’s collapse, pursed his lips, and said, “Second sister, you are still young, only in your early twenties. You should go out and find a job. You need to be self-reliant. No matter how capable our parents are, they cannot provide everything for you.
Look at our parents; how can they support us now? We all need to be independent and depend on ourselves. It’s better to rely on yourself than on anyone else. Find a job and excel at it.”
Carrie replied, “Trenton, you want me to find a job? I am the second young lady of the Newman family, and you expect me to work? I am wealthy and have plenty of money. Why should I seek employment?”
What kind of job could Carrie even find? She had no work experience.
As for education, she hadn’t graduated from college, and she had no desire to continue studying, so her parents allowed her to indulge at home.
She knew nothing except how to spend money.
Carrie insisted, “Trenton, go tell Camryn to unfreeze my bank card! If you still consider me your second sister, ask her!”
As long as her bank card was unfrozen, she would have plenty of money to spend without needing to work at all.
What could she possibly earn from a job?
Had she not seen the kind of work her two aunts did? They were cleaners and sanitation workers, earning only a few thousand dollars a month!
Their jobs were dirty, and the pay was too low. No amount of pressure would convince her to do that kind of work.
