He took Hayden’s hand and said, “After you return from Farrell’s house tonight, you are not permitted to work any longer and should go to bed early. Hugh is too relaxed; he needs more tasks to keep him busy.”
Hayden replied, “His skills are present, and he has taken on everything manageable for him. However, he lacks the capability to handle more complex tasks. His mind isn’t quite big enough to handle such a significant responsibility.”
Suddenly, Hayden smiled and added, “Let Hugh know that you’ve asked me to increase his workload so he can rise to the occasion.”
Hugh was decent, but he always fell short compared to Hayden. Additionally, the Queen Enterprise had been under Hayden’s management for several years, giving her more experience than her brother.
Kevin said, “I’m worried he might rise up too quickly. It pains me to see how exhausted you are every day. He spends his time with various confidantes, going shopping, attending dinner parties, and leading a carefree life.”
Hayden responded, “I’m accustomed to days like this. If I ever found myself idle, I wouldn’t know how to handle it. Perhaps I was simply meant to work hard.”
“Where is Sister Liberty?” Hayden inquired.
Kevin replied, “She’s waiting at the Fortress Hotel. Should we meet her there, or let her go to Farrell’s house first and we can head directly from your company to Farrell’s?”
Hayden asked, “Did you not agree on this plan?”
Kevin responded, “We had a deal.”
“Now that we’ve agreed, let’s stick to it so Sister Liberty doesn’t have to wait unnecessarily at the hotel. If you had suggested we leave earlier, I wouldn’t have had to wait so long.” Kevin smiled, “I didn’t think it through enough. I believed it would be safer for Sister Liberty if we went together.”
Hayden replied, “Since Sister Liberty is brave enough to come here, she has…
made various psychological preparations. “There’s no need to restrain Sister Liberty,” Kevin stated.
“I didn’t restrain her,” he continued. “I thought she was new and still finding her footing, so I had to support her, so my sister-in-law wouldn’t worry.”
Lowering his voice, Kevin added, “That old woman is cruel and ruthless. Sister Liberty suddenly approached and touched a nerve with her. I’m sure she’s losing sleep over worrying that the power she usurped will return to its rightful owner.”
After a moment of silence, Hayden remarked, “The Farrell family’s rules are flawed. They should not enforce such regulations. Leadership should be granted to the wise and capable; only then will people be convinced.”
Kevin nodded in agreement.
Indeed, the Farrell family’s rules were unacceptable. Initially, others could abide by them, even if they lacked the capability. However, as time passed, more capable individuals emerged.
This was particularly true for sisters with the same mother; the eldest sister held an innate advantage simply due to her age, which was very unfair to the younger sisters.
If the eldest sister excelled, there would be no complaints from the younger siblings. But what happens when the eldest sister possesses mediocre abilities while the younger sister excels? Should the elder still claim the position, relegating the younger sister to a subordinate role?
This isn’t to say that the previous head of the Farrell family was ineffective; he was marginally superior to the current one.
She simply trusted her sister too much and gave birth to daughters at an advanced age, which took a toll on her body. This is why her sister took advantage of her.
Hayden continued, “The issues rooted in our history are challenging to resolve. It requires a collective effort to muster the courage to change family rules. However, once those rules are altered, competition will intensify, and conspiracies will still arise.
Human nature often falters when confronted with money, power, and status.”
Hayden then fell silent.
Kevin responded, “We don’t desire those things, and they don’t concern us. Our focus should be on supporting Sister Liberty. Her choices are her own. Sister Liberty is my sister-in-law’s biological sister, which is why we have a stake in this matter.”
Otherwise, what relevance does the past of the Farrell family have to us?
Hayden smiled and said, “Of course. It’s not as if I’m idle and have nothing better to do. I’m going uninvited tonight, and my presence at that meal is merely to express my stance.”
This would remind the Farrell family not to be overly arrogant.
After all, Liberty is set to be her future sister-in-law.
