Kathryn said, “Sister-in-law, what’s the point of watching it alone? It’s much more enjoyable to invite the second and third sisters-in-law to watch together. If Mom comes back and sees you three together, you won’t face any punishment, and she won’t do anything to you.”

“Even though my mom angrily kicked her out and declared that she would never let her use the surname Farrell, if Shiloh refuses to change her name, what can my mom do? She definitely won’t change her name; she has a strong dislike for her biological parents. When her own mother comes to visit, she sends them away as if they were beggars.”

Kathryn remembered how Shiloh treated her biological mother during her last visit, and she understood why Shiloh felt that way.

Her adoptive mother had treated her poorly, which warranted her biological daughter’s disdain.

“I’m worried that once my mom calms down, if Shiloh starts crying and the situation seems dire, my mother might soften her stance again.”

Erika exclaimed in shock, “After everything that’s happened, can Mom really allow her to come back?”

Kathryn replied, “I’m just considering the possibility.”

Thinking of her mother-in-law’s tendency to indulge Shiloh, Erika nodded. “It’s a possibility. I’ll send a message to your second and third sisters-in-law to see if they want to witness Shiloh’s plight.”

Last night, they had been too afraid to go out and watch.

After Shiloh was dragged out by the three sisters-in-law and left at the mansion’s doorstep, the three young ladies hurried back inside, not daring to linger any longer.

They feared that their mother-in-law’s wrath could destroy the entire Farrell family, so it was wiser for them to keep a low profile.

Kathryn said, “Sister-in-law, I’m going out for a run.”

Erika replied, “It’s such a cold day, yet you still manage to get up early for a run.”

“I admire your perseverance and determination. I find it difficult to get up and run, especially as I notice my belly growing larger,” Erika said, touching the small amount of fat on her abdomen.

“Sister-in-law, many women start gaining weight when they reach middle age, expanding sideways and losing control. If you manage your diet a bit, you can lose weight,” she continued.

Erika nodded and replied, “I want to begin controlling my diet. I will stop overeating and start going out dancing at night.”

After finishing her conversation with Erika, Kathryn went downstairs first. Erika sent a message to her two sisters-in-law. Moments later, Anya and Amora emerged from their rooms, revealing that, like Erika, they hadn’t slept well the previous night. It seemed that none of them had rested properly.

When Kathryn arrived downstairs, she was greeted respectfully by the Butler.

“Miss, it’s quite cold today. Do you still wish to go for a run? The same applies for the gym,” he inquired.

The gym was indoors, so it wasn’t as cold there.

“I’m wearing my winter sports gear, so I won’t feel cold while running. In the past, during snowy mornings, I was often asked to go out early wearing thin clothing. I’ve grown accustomed to the cold, and now it doesn’t bother me even when it snows,” Kathryn explained.

The Butler looked troubled and said, “That was a different time. Miss, it’s truly upsetting how you were treated back then. Just look at how kindly Madam Farrell treats Miss Shiloh. I can’t quite bring myself to call her that now, but I suppose I’ll have to get used to it eventually.”

Having witnessed Shiloh being dismissed by Matriarch Farrell, the Butler recognized that Shiloh had made a significant mistake, which influenced his attitude towards Kathryn.

More respectful. The biological connections hold their own significance, after all. Even though Kathryn was raised in the countryside and lacked strong feelings for Matriarch Farrell, her biological bond was something Shiloh could not match. The Butler finally acknowledged this reality. Regardless of how much Matriarch Farrell had favored Shiloh in the past, Kathryn, as her biological child, was destined to assume a prominent role. Moving forward, the Butler would treat Kathryn with the respect she deserved. Once Kathryn took charge of the Farrell family, his best option for a smooth retirement would be to secure her trust. The thought of remaining in the Farrell household as the Butler was daunting; without Kathryn’s confidence in him, his position would be untenable.
