Josh remarked, “If I don’t talk about it, you won’t understand just how busy and exhausted I am. I promised you before that you would allow me to rest for a few days when you returned. Who knew if you could keep that promise? I have to remind you. Additionally, you promised me two months of maternity leave when Jasmine gives birth next year.”
Zachary responded, “It’s not like you are the one giving birth. Why should you be entitled to maternity leave? Just take a month off to care for your wife during her recovery.”
“You have so many family members who can help during this time. I believe two months of leave is already quite generous, yet you still think it’s insufficient.”
Josh countered: “When Serenity has our baby, if you can come to the office every day and work as usual without helping your wife during her recovery, then I will settle for just one month of maternity leave. I am not the one having a baby, but as a husband, I must be there for my wife when she needs support the most.”
Zachary replied, “It depends on the circumstances. If the company isn’t busy at that time, I can grant you three months off. That should be acceptable.”
Reflecting on his feelings, he also wanted to be with Serenity and assist her after the baby arrived.
He recognized the need to take better care of her during the recovery period.
Josh quickly added, “Serenity, did you hear that? Zachary said he would give me three months of leave.”
Serenity smiled and replied, “I heard it; don’t worry. I will be your witness and ensure Zachary keeps his promise when the time comes.”
Jasmine is older than Serenity by a few months, and her baby is due in May next year.
Now that…
With the New Year approaching, Josh had already discussed next year’s maternity leave with Zachary.

Josh felt a sense of relief as he stood up and said to Zachary, “I’m heading back to work now. I’ll handle everything I need to today since I’ll be on vacation tomorrow.”
After getting two days off, Josh was in a great mood.
“Please remember to close the office door when you leave,” Zachary reminded him.
Josh smiled and replied, “You don’t have to worry. I’ll definitely close the door. If you want to say something sweet, just go ahead—no need to worry about being overheard.”
Josh left with a grin.
Once he was gone, Zachary turned to his wife and asked, “Seren, do you feel like having hot pot? It’s gotten chilly, so it would be perfect.”
“Sure,” Serenity replied.
It had been a while since she last had hot pot. Earlier, she had heard Josh mention that Jasmine was considering it too. She thought about treating her friends to a meal but ultimately decided to let the young couple enjoy their time together.
She felt fortunate compared to her friends; no one at home asked her what she wanted to eat. Whenever she had a craving, all she had to do was tell Zachary, and he would do his best to fulfill it.
If there was something Zachary couldn’t provide, Grandma would step in when needed.
Jasmine was often discussed because the nutritionist hired by the Bucham family was Josh’s cousin, Mrs. Bucham’s niece. Jasmine couldn’t cause trouble for his cousin over something as simple as a meal.
