“Kevin.” Hayden spoke with a smile, clearly in a good mood.

On the other end of the line, Kevin felt flattered by her tone. He smiled and replied, “Hayden, what’s making you so happy? You’re calling my name with a smile, which is rare considering how long I’ve known you.”

Although Hayden had feelings for Kevin, her demeanor towards him was often aloof.

This was part of her character; she had cultivated a cold and serious temperament over time.

Hayden asked, “Do you really want me to be in a bad mood?”

“Not at all. I simply wish for you to be beautiful, happy, and carefree each day. However, the burdens you carry are too heavy, which stresses you out and keeps you from smiling. Whenever I see Hugh smiling, it makes me want to seal his mouth with tape,” he responded.

His beloved Hayden worked tirelessly for Queen Enterprise every day, while Hugh seemed to have ample time to spend with his confidante, who was constantly making friends yet never saw him settle down.

Hayden smiled and said, “Then go ahead and seal his mouth. Honestly, I sometimes envy his carefree demeanor.”

Being the eldest, she had always taken care of everything for Hugh.

Moreover, she had been pretending to be a man and had never contemplated reclaiming her identity as a woman. She believed it was worth shouldering the heavy burdens to keep her brother happy and allow him to lead a relaxed life.

After meeting Kevin, however, Hayden gradually found herself envying Hugh.

She also began to assign more work to Hugh, just as she had promised him at the start: one day, Queen Enterprise would be handed over to him.

She couldn’t go on living this way forever; she too desired someone to rely on, and Kevin was the person who could support her.

“You shouldn’t envy him. In the future, he will be the one envying you. As long as…

You gradually hand over the company’s responsibilities to him, allowing yourself to relax. Otherwise, you might find yourself in my position, solely managing the hotel. I can still assist you; I’ve been running hotels for many years and have the necessary experience. Managing a few more hotels will not be an issue, and this way, you can unwind.”

Hayden replied, “Come on, what does this have to do with me?”

Kevin smiled and said, “If I don’t see you one day, I’ll come to you. If I need anything, I’ll reach out. Later, I’ll pick you up to have dinner with Sister Liberty and Brother Duncan this evening.”

“Brother Duncan is currently accompanying Sister Liberty to Farrell’s house, but they will return soon.”

Hayden understood that Kevin was motivated either by food or fun. He had become a source of her envy. Although he had a heavy workload, he had been in charge for several years, gained experience, and had capable subordinates, which meant he didn’t have to handle everything himself. With proper organization, he could afford to relax.

To pursue Hayden without stress, his brothers quietly assisted him by sharing the workload.

Hayden was aware of this; she knew everything.

She had to admit that the more she interacted with him, the more she enjoyed the warm and harmonious atmosphere of the York family, which felt like home.

While her own family was also harmonious, it was small and lacked the liveliness of the York family.

She couldn’t fault her parents for abandoning her so early. Families like the Yorks, and many others with daughters, were hard to come by.

Hayden said, “Alright, come and pick me up during my off-duty hours. Just don’t come too early and disrupt my time.”

“I have a banquet to attend tomorrow night. You can join me as my boyfriend,” she said.

Kevin smiled and replied, “I won’t just accompany you to any banquet. I no longer wish to be just your boyfriend; I want to be your husband, and I intend to be your husband for the rest of my life.”

Hayden chastised him for being so bold, yet Kevin chose not to address the underlying meaning in her words.
