-Hayden remarked, “You are shameless, yet I still crave some shame.”

Kevin chuckled and replied, “I’m shameless. I can’t pursue my wife, even if I desire shame. I learned this from my older brother. In fact, he has never chased after his wife; he just aims to be thick-skinned. He used to be very concerned about his image, but now that I have my sister-in-law, he’s gradually losing that concern.”

When Zachary and Serenity first got married, they often found themselves in conflicts and cold wars.

Kevin was aware of this but didn’t dare to pry too much.

At times, their cold wars became severe enough for Grandma May to intervene.

Hayden couldn’t help but laugh, saying, “I doubt things will go well for you if Mr. York hears you claim he has no shame.”

From what Hayden knew, the young masters of the York family held a special respect and fear for Zachary, their eldest brother.

While Zachary maintained a cold and arrogant demeanor around outsiders, he appeared to be a different person in front of Serenity.

Since the York family all lived together at Wildridge Manor, the children grew up together and formed strong bonds. Thus, Zachary, as the eldest brother, wielded considerable influence, surprising his younger cousins.

Kevin remarked, “My eldest brother isn’t here. Besides, what I’m telling you is the truth. He became increasingly shameless after marrying my sister-in-law. We could all learn from his example.”

Hayden smiled and replied, “You are shameless yourself yet blame others. Now, let’s get ready to head out. Kevin, can I ask you something? I’m wearing an evening dress but not high heels for the banquet. Will I be laughed at?”

“Would you care if I were laughed at?”

Kevin glanced down at the high heels he had removed and replied with a smile, “What do I care? When have I ever been afraid of others laughing at me? I—”

“I have always done whatever I wanted, regardless of what others think of me. If I were concerned about their opinions, we wouldn’t be as close as we are today.”

If Kevin had cared about others’ opinions, he wouldn’t have pursued Hayden publicly. After all, within the Jensburg community, Hayden was known as Young Master Queen, the eldest son of the Queen family. His public affection for Hayden was perceived as a sign of homosexuality.

Kevin advised, “If you’re not accustomed to high heels, don’t wear them. You know best whether the shoes feel comfortable. Just switch out any uncomfortable shoes; there’s no need to force yourself into footwear that doesn’t suit you.”

With that, he retrieved Hayden’s usual leather shoes and placed them on his feet. He smiled and said, “Put on your leather shoes; you’re familiar with them. Make sure you’re comfortable. If others want to laugh, let them. It doesn’t matter what they do, as long as we live comfortably ourselves.”

He gently touched the evening dress Hayden was wearing. “I understand that you’re not used to women’s clothing, though I truly enjoy seeing you in it. You look like a fairy descending from heaven, with a noble and cool demeanor that captivates me.”

“However, if you feel uncomfortable or unaccustomed to it, you don’t have to wear women’s clothing. It doesn’t matter whether others recognize you as a woman or not. I know who you are. Others may think I’m gay, but that’s not the case. Their opinions don’t matter.”

“Just change back into your suit and continue attending the banquet as the eldest young master of the Queen family. It’s all about your comfort.”

After gazing at him for a long moment, Hayden finally said, “Kevin, I love you. I mean it.”

Kevin beamed. “I love you even more; I love you to death.”

His feelings for her were certainly deeper than hers for him. However, she was willing to express her love, which made Kevin very happy.

“I love you and I don’t want anyone to label you as gay again. Tonight, I chose to wear an evening dress and high heels. I’m really not used to them. I practiced all afternoon, but I still struggle to walk without bumping into people. My mother was furious with my slow, ladylike pace.

I don’t want to force myself anymore, so I’ve decided not to wear high heels. I don’t care what others think about me; your opinion is what matters. If you’re okay with this, then I’ll do whatever feels comfortable for me.”

Hayden opted not to wear a long wig or high heels, instead choosing her familiar leather shoes. The evening dress her mother had selected for her had a long hem.
