-Everyone exchanged glances.
Would it really be like that?
Mr. Queen was originally a woman who dressed as a man, or are men now dressing as women?
Hayden’s presence left everyone confused, but no one dared to ask directly.
Some attendees had good relationships with the Queen family. Those who had contact information for Mr. or Mrs. Queen attempted to reach them, only to find that their phones were turned off and they were unreachable.
Welcomed into the main room by Mr. Talbot, Hayden sat down with grace.
Mr. Talbot’s daughter-in-law, Mrs. Alora Talbot, kept glancing at Hayden, hesitating several times.
Mrs. Alora Talbot and Mrs. Queen were acquaintances; they had played cards, shopped, and dined together, fostering a friendship.
Hayden said, “Auntie, if you have something to say to me, please speak up.”
Noticing Alora’s desire to say something, Hayden encouraged her to do so, wanting to alleviate the awkward staring.
Mr. Talbot looked at Alora.
Alora replied shyly, “Oh, I just think Mr. Queen’s evening dress is lovely. Was it a gift from Mr. York? Where was it made? I’d like to order a couple of sets for myself.”
Kevin smiled and said, “It wasn’t a gift; Auntie Queen bought it for Hayden.”
He had once offered Hayden women’s clothing, but she had refused to accept them. Eventually, he reluctantly wore them once to show her, yet she still declined.
Realizing that Hayden would not accept such gifts, he ceased giving her women’s clothing.
Hayden was planning to wear…
Hayden had chosen to wear women’s clothing for the banquet tonight, but she hadn’t informed him beforehand. He was completely unaware of her plans. Had he known earlier, he would have certainly sent her some more exquisite evening dresses in advance.
The evening dress that Hayden wore tonight was lovely, though it was quite conservative and didn’t even reveal her back. In contrast, the evening gowns worn by other affluent ladies showcased their shoulders and backs.
Alora asked, “Did Mrs. Queen buy it?”
She assumed that Kevin had given it to Hayden.
Like many others, the Talbot family speculated that Hayden wore women’s clothing because of Kevin, believing it was he who encouraged her to dress as a woman.
“Yes, my mother bought it. I mentioned that I wanted to wear women’s clothing tonight and asked her to purchase an evening dress for me, so she chose this one. Auntie, do you think it looks nice on me?” Hayden asked Alora with a smile.
Alora replied, “You look good, but you are a man in a dress, making it hard to define your gender. Your mother and I are close, so I can’t ignore how you appear. I see that your parents support your choices regarding you and Mr. York, but as outsiders, it’s difficult for us to comment. Still, seeing you like this… I’m not quite sure how to react. I just feel uneasy.”
Hayden stifled her smile and said, “Auntie, I told you I’m a girl; why don’t you believe me? I’ve always been a girl, but I often prefer neutral clothing, which leads everyone to mistakenly think I’m a man.”
After a moment of reflection, Hayden added, “It’s not just everyone’s misunderstanding; I have misled them myself.”
In the past, I frequently claimed to be the eldest young master of the Queen family, which led to misunderstandings. In truth, I am the daughter of the Queen family, and my brother Hugh and I are twins.
I find that being a man seems more relaxed and liberating. Auntie, you don’t need to worry about being judged harshly for your actions.”
The Talbot family was left speechless.
What had Hayden just said?
Hayden revealed that she was originally a girl who simply enjoyed pretending to be a man, which is why she misled everyone into believing she was the eldest son of the Queen family.
In reality, she is Ms. Queen, not Mr. Queen.
The Talbot family questioned whether they had misheard.
Alora was equally stunned. The young girl beside her was a member of the Talbot family and had previously admired Hayden, and her expression mirrored Alora’s shock.
