If Julian remained silent, his parents would immediately fly over on a private plane to propose marriage to the Caron family. The issue was that he hadn’t confessed his love for Kiera yet, and her reaction to his parents’ sudden proposal would likely be one of fear.
After spending time with his destined girl, he found himself deeply in love with her. This profound affection made him anxious about potentially scaring her away.
While he usually faced challenges without fear, he felt weak and vulnerable around Kiera, which left him uncertain.
“When can your mom and I meet your in-laws, Julian? We’ve prepared several thoughtful gifts for the marriage proposal. As soon as we realize something is missing, we’ll ensure we present a kind and generous offering to secure the proposal,” Mr. Bucham expressed, clearly anxious.
Julian, nearing forty, was considered an older bachelor in Wiltspoon, much like Duncan. Naturally, he felt the pressure.
“Dad, I haven’t even confessed my love to Kiera yet; why are you pushing for a marriage proposal?” Julian replied.
Mr. Bucham reprimanded him, “How long has it been, and you still haven’t told her? What’s going on? Does she like someone else? Or are you simply too afraid to confess?”
“Dad, you think it’s been ages, but it’s actually been less than a month since I arrived in Yonsburg. Kiera sees me as a friend, and I can’t bring myself to express my feelings just yet. We need to spend more time together before we can share our true emotions,” Julian explained.
On the other end of the phone, Mr. Bucham urged, “Where is your courage? It’s a day full of possibilities, and you, Julian, seem hesitant. Others dare to confess their love at first sight.”
You and my future daughter-in-law are already acquainted. It’s been two or three months, and you still hesitate to confess your love. Julian, while you might be reluctant to embrace your feelings, your dad and I are eager to hold our grandson.”
Julian replied, “Dad, I feel the same way. I’m just worried that Kiera won’t be able to accept my feelings for her. She has a very masculine personality and tends to treat men as friends. Plus, there’s a significant age gap between us.”
Mr. Bucham responded, “Age shouldn’t be an obstacle. If you don’t express your feelings, she won’t know, and she’ll continue to see you as just a friend. But once you confess, she’ll understand your true feelings and won’t view you as just a buddy anymore. Our future daughter-in-law is genuinely kind. If you don’t act soon, someone else might win her heart, and you’ll end up going home in tears.”
He continued, “Please arrange a place for your mother and me to stay. We’re heading to Yonsburg in two days. We intended to go last time, but you convinced us otherwise. Your mother and I have tried to avoid interfering, but it hasn’t worked. If we don’t take action soon, the New Year will arrive, and then you’ll be another year older. While you may not feel rushed, we certainly are.”
The main issue is Julian’s condition. Kiera is uniquely capable of helping him become a normal man. Until she marries into the Bucham family, Mr. Bucham and his wife won’t find peace.
If Kiera falls in love with and marries someone else, Julian may be single for life.
Alas, Mr. Bucham and his wife are just like any ordinary parents, anxious about their children’s futures.
Julian remarked, “There’s still over a month until the New Year.”
Mr. Bucham replied, “More than a month can pass in the blink of an eye. Do you really think a month is a long time? Once the New Year comes…”
The year has come to an end, and once again, you find yourself waiting for the new year. Days are slipping by quickly. If you don’t act soon, you might blink and find yourself an old man with gray hair. Just look around—who will still want to be with you, old man?”
Julian remained silent.
His father was going too far with his comments. Julian was not yet forty and was still in the prime of his life, yet his father insisted he was already old.
“Husband, pass me your phone; I need to talk to Julian,” Mrs. Bucham chimed in, eager to scold him as well.
Julian quickly replied to his father, “Dad, I’m still busy. The new branch has just been established, and I have a lot to handle. Please tell Mom that I’ll call her another day when I have some free time.”
With that, Julian hung up the phone.
