The eldest son, Zachary, was always the most favored.

“My parents are incredibly supportive. I really want to have a child as soon as possible because it’s clear they love children and want grandchildren,” Camryn said, gently touching her belly.

Knowing that conceiving would not be easy for her, Callum was particularly attentive at night.

If she were a typical woman, with Callum’s dedication, she would likely have gotten pregnant within a month of their marriage, just like Jasmine.

Callum reassured her, saying, “Don’t worry, we’re still young, and we haven’t even had our wedding yet. Let’s focus on our health first. We can enjoy living independently for a few years and let others envy us.”

Callum was genuinely not in a rush to start a family. Even if Camryn’s health were fine, he didn’t plan on having a baby too soon; he would consider it at the earliest a year after their wedding.

Camryn responded, “Honey, I’m not worried about your opinions on me. Honestly, children aren’t as enjoyable as they seem. You might think other people’s kids are cute, but if you had to care for them, you’d likely go insane and cry 800 times a day. Not all kids are like Sonny; he’s so sensible and obedient.”

Callum replied, “Sonny is indeed a well-behaved child. My sister-in-law mentioned that taking care of him was quite challenging in the past. He would often cry and need to be carried around at night before he would finally sleep. Once he fell asleep, he would wake up shortly after, requiring an adult to rock him back to sleep. My sister-in-law said she lost nearly ten pounds caring for Sister Liberty during her confinement, which illustrates how difficult raising a baby can be.”

“In a family like ours, it’s manageable since the elders are available to help and there are nannies. However, once a child arrives, the mother often feels compelled to care for them herself and nurture them.”

Relationships, even with one’s own child, require nurturing. Raising a baby can be exhausting, so let’s enjoy ourselves and consider having another child.”

Camryn looked at him and replied, “You make it sound like you have experience caring for a child. I doubt you’ve ever witnessed anyone taking care of one.”

Callum responded, “Why do you think that? I have experience! Rowan is more than ten years younger than I am. When he was born, our oldest brothers took care of him. He was absolutely adorable as a baby. There were times when he cried non-stop, and I honestly wanted to throw him in the trash! Rowan was scared of our eldest brother, and when he cried endlessly, we couldn’t calm him down. Once our eldest brother came home, we handed him over, and he stopped crying almost immediately. He would roll around on the ground, and no one could wake him. But as soon as he heard our eldest brother was back, he would get up and throw himself into his mother’s arms.”

Camryn smiled. “Now Rowan is also afraid of his eldest brother.”

Callum continued, “Things are much better now that I have my sister-in-law. Rowan clings tightly to her. When my eldest brother and sister-in-law first got their marriage certificate, my brother was still trying to keep his identity hidden. I remember the first time I met my sister-in-law; Rowan was holding onto her leg for dear life. Now, if my eldest brother dares to stare at him, Rowan calls for his sister-in-law.”

Camryn remarked, “Sister Serenity will be giving him plenty of test questions.”

Callum laughed heartily. “It’s far better for my sister-in-law to handle the test questions than for all eight of us brothers to bombard him with them. Since school is out, he prefers to spend time at his grandma’s house rather than come back here because he…”

He is worried that when he returns, we will bombard him with a set of test questions to study. I’m not sure why, but I feel uneasy seeing him so relaxed. I usually buy him several sets of test questions and ask him to complete them within a specific timeframe. It brings me joy to see him working on them every day until midnight.

Rowan remarked, “Second brother, you’re too harsh!”

Camryn responded, “With brothers like you, it’s no wonder Rowan prefers to spend the holidays at his grandma’s house.”

Callum, with a mischievous grin, said, “Winter break is just around the corner. I plan to gift him a few sets of test questions for the New Year. Even if he’s at his grandma’s, I’ll make sure to deliver them personally. High school students need to put in the effort.”

Camryn replied, “Alright, he has been pressured by school and finally made it home for the holidays. Can you all please let him unwind and relieve some of that stress?”
