-What Serenity said was absolutely correct. Grandma May was simply an old mischievous child.

The car pulled up to the main house and came to a stop.

Serenity wanted to assist Sonny with his small schoolbag, but Sonny insisted on carrying it himself.

He stated, “The teacher said you should do what you can do yourself. My mom and aunt taught me that too.”

Serenity smiled and replied, “Yes, yes, that’s what I taught you. I had forgotten. Yes, do what you can do on your own.”

There were many people who spoiled Sonny.

Both sisters were concerned that Sonny might become spoiled, so Serenity and Liberty took it upon themselves to discipline him.

They aimed to teach Sonny a proper outlook on life to prevent him from becoming spoiled.

Sonny carried his small schoolbag, and when the car door opened, he exited first, then turned around and extended his little hand to help Serenity.

Serenity took his hand, making him feel like he was helping her out of the car.

Serenity: “Sonny is amazing!”

Sonny: “My uncle said that both he and I are men, and we must protect and take care of my aunt and mother in the future.”

Serenity smiled and said, “Sonny, you’re like a little grown-up.”

Her heart felt warm. She truly loved Sonny as if he were her own child.

Zachary also impressed her; even though he spoiled her, he taught Sonny to care for her.

Sonny was already considerate at such a young age, and he would surely grow into a warm man.

They had no idea which family’s daughter would be fortunate in the future.

“The eldest young lady has returned.”

Sam came out of the house to greet Serenity.

“Sam, is Grandma back?” Serenity inquired.

Sam replied, “No, Madam; the old lady hasn’t returned yet.”

Sam stepped forward.

and hugged Sonny.

Serenity released her grip and allowed Sam to hold Sonny.

“Uncle Sam,” Sonny called sweetly to him.

Sam smiled in response, followed Serenity into the house with Sonny in his arms, and quietly remarked as they walked, “Madam seems to have something on her mind. She came over in the evening but didn’t eat anything. She sat in the hall watching TV for quite a while. I’m heading upstairs now; I’m not sure what’s bothering her.”

Concerned, Serenity asked, “What’s wrong with my mom? Did she have a fight with my dad?”

Serenity found it hard to believe that her parents-in-law could quarrel. The men in the York family were well-known for their affection towards their wives. Even after over thirty years together, her parents-in-law’s relationship seemed as vibrant as first love.

Having been married into the York family for a year or two, Serenity had never witnessed her father-in-law raise his voice at her mother-in-law.

Zachary, on the other hand, was not as gentle with her as her father-in-law was with her mother-in-law.

“Sam, Sonny, and I had dinner at my aunt’s house. Please entertain Sonny for a bit while I go upstairs to check on my mom,” Serenity said.

Sam nodded, holding Sonny as they watched TV.

Serenity made her way upstairs alone.

The young couple had a room set aside for their parents-in-law.

Reaching her mother-in-law’s door, she knocked and called out, “Mom, it’s Serenity; may I come in?”

“Coming,” Tania replied, quickly opening the door.

“Mom,” Serenity greeted.

Tania smiled and asked, “Seren, when did you get back? Where’s Sonny?”

“Sonny is…

“Watching TV on the first floor is Sam, who is keeping him company.”

Serenity glanced at her mother-in-law, noticing that she didn’t appear to be arguing with her father-in-law.

“Mom, I heard Sam mention that you seem to be in a bad mood,” Serenity said as she entered her mother-in-law’s room.
