Tania and Serenity chatted for a while, which lifted Tania’s spirits.
Tania listened attentively to Serenity.
Serenity reassured her that Tatum was an adult, not a three-year-old, so they should let him do what he wanted.
Tatum returned to work with dedication.
Additionally, his business was stable, and if he cooked at home for others, it wouldn’t interfere with his own business.
Considering that Tatum might be cooking for his future wife, Tania felt no need to stop him.
“Seren, I’ve thought it over, and I’m no longer upset. Let’s go downstairs and see Sonny.”
Tania stood up.
Serenity smiled and accompanied Tania downstairs.
Sam was watching cartoons with Sonny, who was completely absorbed.
As they heard footsteps, Sam stood up.
“Auntie.”
When Sonny saw Serenity coming down, he paused the TV, stood up, and rushed to her and Tania.
He affectionately called Tania “Grandma Reading.”
Tania picked him up and asked if he was enjoying kindergarten.
Sonny eagerly answered, sharing many amusing stories about kindergarten that made Tania laugh.
About an hour later, Liam and Tatum arrived.
Upon hearing that they were coming, Serenity went out to greet them personally.
Tania held Sonny still and remarked, “He shows up as soon as he arrives. He’s not the emperor, so someone shouldn’t have to go out to welcome him.”
Nonetheless, she appreciated Serenity’s gesture.
Serenity stepped out of the main house and saw Liam and Tatum hurrying out of the car towards her.
“Dad,” Serenity called out to Liam.
Liam appeared anxious, but he responded to Serenity with kindness.
Tatum greeted her with “sister-in-law.”
“Serenity, is your mom home?” Liam asked gently.
Serenity nodded. “Mom is in the
“House, Dad; you don’t need to worry. Mom is fine.”
“She ran over, but I was unaware. I thought she had locked herself in the room. I didn’t dare to force the door open, so I knocked and called for her. After a long time without a response, I assumed she was angry with me.”
Fortunately for Liam, his wife was merely upset and had gone to see their eldest son instead of returning to her parents’ home.
If Liam had to visit the Reading family to retrieve his wife, he would undoubtedly disturb his mother-in-law and cause her unnecessary worry.
The main issue was that whenever the couple had minor disagreements, the mother-in-law always sided with him, which made his wife jealous, claiming her mother favored him over her.
In reality, understanding a daughter is often more challenging than knowing a mother.
The mother-in-law was well-acquainted with Tania and her daughter’s temperament, as well as with Liam as her son-in-law.
So, whenever the couple had a small conflict, it was rarely his fault.
He had never voiced complaints in front of his mother-in-law, yet his wife often felt that he was the one who was complaining.
Liam made every effort to avoid alarming his mother-in-law.
As she aged, he didn’t want her to worry about them any more than necessary.
“I didn’t argue with her. I simply mentioned that Tatum is an adult who knows what he wants to do. As parents, we should support our son in pursuing what he enjoys. What’s the problem?”
After Liam finished speaking, he quickly said to Serenity, “Serenity, Dad won’t talk to you any longer. I’m going to check on your mom first.”
With that, Liam hurried into the house.
