“Brother, it’s very late. You’ve been tired all day. You should go to bed early. I’m heading home,” Tatum said after discussing with Zachary.

Zachary replied, “It’s so late; why not stay the night? You have a place to stay here.”

Tatum declined, saying, “It’s not far for me to go back. Brother has a room here, but I don’t have a change of clothes. I’m still getting used to the bed.”

It would take him some time to adjust to a new sleeping environment after changing locations.

People who enjoyed their beds often tossed and turned, struggling to sleep when in unfamiliar surroundings.

Considering that Tatum’s private villa was nearby, he mentioned wanting to take the bed without a change of clothes.

Zachary stopped trying to persuade him to stay, simply advising him to drive slowly and text when he arrived home safely.

Tatum replied, “Good night, brother.”

Zachary didn’t get up to see him off.

After Tatum left, Zachary drank another half-glass of water and noticed he still smelled of alcohol.

Concerned about disturbing his wife and fearing he might wake Serenity if he returned to their room now, Zachary decided to spend the night in the study.

He ascended to the second floor and approached his room’s door but did not enter. He stood silently for a moment before turning and going into the study.

Serenity slept until midnight, then woke up to use the bathroom.

After drinking a glass of milk before bed, she often found herself awake in the middle of the night.

Upon exiting the bathroom, she felt much more alert and realized that Zachary still had not returned.

She walked back to the bed and sat down, picking up her phone from the bedside table.

She glanced at the clock and noted that it was already past three in the morning.

Had Zachary not returned yet?

He hadn’t sent her a message to let her know when he would be back.

Concerned, she called Zachary.

It took a moment before he answered the phone.

“Have you not come back yet, husband?”

Serenity asked with concern, “Is everything okay?”

No matter how busy he had been in the past, he always returned home early.

The fact that it was already past three in the morning and he still hadn’t come back suggested that something was amiss.

It must have been important.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t have stayed out so late.

After their marriage, especially as their relationship grew stronger, he had been coming home earlier and earlier.

For a time, he would arrive home by 10:30 every night to spend time with her.

“Seren, I was sleeping in the study. I had some wine last night, and the smell was quite strong. I was worried it would intoxicate you. When I returned home, it was too late, and you were already asleep. I didn’t want to wake you, so I stayed in the study,” Zachary explained.

Serenity didn’t respond further and hung up the phone.

Zachary quickly stood up and headed outside.

Moments later, Serenity appeared in the study.

“Wife,” Zachary said, anticipating her arrival as he was about to step out.

Without saying a word, Serenity embraced him, inhaled his scent, then pulled back to look up and ask, “Are you drunk?”

Zachary wrapped his arms around her once more.

In a low voice, he replied, “I’m not drunk. I only had one drink, but it was strong. After just one glass, I’m afraid I won’t handle it well.”

As he spoke, he gently kissed her on the lips.

His large

Her hand rested on her belly again, his eyes filled with tenderness. “When will this little guy arrive? It’s going to be tough for me,” he said.

Serenity replied, “Didn’t you endure that for a long time before marrying me?”

Zachary chuckled, “I didn’t experience it back then, so I can’t say how ecstatic it is. But after I did, being a monk would be quite a challenge.”

Serenity’s face flushed red.

In truth, it was understandable to be cautious.

He felt nervous and worried about hurting the baby. He would prefer to remain a monk than to risk touching her.

At most, he would hold her tightly and then engage in passionate kisses.

Then he jokingly declared that after the baby was born, he would take three days off and demand his money back with interest.
