Camryn responded, “I’m overwhelmed with dog food.”

Serenity couldn’t suppress the smile that crept onto her lips.

She replied to Camryn, “Callum loves you very much too.”

They were all basking in a sea of affection.

Since Camryn was busy, Serenity decided not to send any more messages.

She walked back to her car and was about to get in when she heard someone calling her name.

Turning around, she saw Hank approaching.

“Serenity.”

Hank came closer and noticed she was alone. He asked, “Did you send Sonny in?”

“Yes, do you want to see Sonny?”

Hank smiled and replied, “I was passing by with a guest and wanted to visit Sonny. I thought you hadn’t arrived yet, but I didn’t expect you to be here so early.”

“Sonny is doing well.”

Serenity felt indifferent towards her ex-brother-in-law.

Hank smiled again and said, “I know Sonny is great. Your sister and I are relieved that he is in your care. I heard from Sonny that your sister will be away on a business trip for quite some time.”

Serenity asked, “Is something wrong?”

Hank replied, “Oh, it’s nothing, just a casual inquiry.”

After a brief silence, he asked again, “Is it really going to take your sister a long time to return?”

Serenity replied, “I’m not sure.”

“Oh,” Hank said, clearly disappointed.

Serenity said coolly, “If there’s nothing else, I’ll be on my way.”

“Okay,” Hank hesitated to say more but ultimately remained silent. He watched as Serenity got into her car and drove away.

Once Serenity’s car was out of sight, Hank turned and walked toward his own vehicle.

He had ceased working for the company, primarily because he couldn’t find a suitable position.

He was

Hank was well-known in Wiltspoon, but his reputation was tarnished, overshadowed by negative news. Many people used him as a prime example of reality. He betrayed his family, had an affair, and ultimately got divorced, missing the chance to become part of the wealthiest family in town. He married his mistress, but they both lost their jobs. The mistress even committed a crime, stabbing him and nearly costing him his life.

Many women questioned why he wasn’t dead, believing a scumbag like him deserved to die. It would have been satisfying for him to perish at the hands of his so-called true love. This was the fate he faced. Without a job and with his savings depleted, he realized that if he didn’t have money, he would lose his wife and children.

Hank couldn’t afford to take a break; doing so would force him to confront all that he had lost and feel overwhelming regret. His parents and sisters often spoke about him, but he remembered how they had once bullied Liberty alongside him. Liberty felt disappointment not just in him but in his entire family. They had urged him to divorce Jessica and pursue Liberty again, driven by the fact that Liberty had become successful and that Serenity had married into a wealthy family. Liberty had transformed herself, losing weight and regaining her beauty and confidence.

He had promised Liberty he would not disrupt her life again. Unfortunately, there was also a son involved, and Sonny was drifting further away from him, favoring Duncan instead. The thought of Duncan and Liberty only deepened Hank’s feelings of bitterness.

Heart. The woman he loathed was seen as a gem by other men. When he wished to return, there was no escape. The busy time flew by. In the blink of an eye, it was afternoon.
