Mr. Fraser said warmly, “I will go shopping with you tomorrow afternoon.”
Kathryn smiled at him. “You’re so busy every day with more responsibilities than I have. It’s rare for me to take a day off, so you should rest too. As you’ve said, being this busy every day is something even a strong person struggles to manage.”
In fact, Mr. Fraser was busier than she was and had to be knowledgeable about many things.
Whenever she asked him a question, he would provide answers and assistance.
He was familiar with certain minor tasks, so he rarely needed to ask her for guidance; he would address them on his own.
Therefore, Mr. Fraser was indeed much busier than she was.
Mr. Fraser replied, “I’m fine. I’m accustomed to it. During my training, it was even more challenging than it is now, but I managed to get through it.”
Kathryn wanted to take a walk, so Mr. Fraser accompanied her, strolling slowly along the street in front of the hotel.
He was always attentive to her reactions.
If Kathryn shivered or looked cold, he would immediately take off his coat and drape it over her shoulders.
Kathryn, however, was not cold.
While working, she stayed indoors with the heating on. When she went out, she would get into her car, and upon arriving home, she would go directly inside, all in a warm environment.
Even when walking outside, her current clothing was high-quality and kept her warm.
Moreover, she didn’t spend much time outdoors.
A slight chill didn’t bother her.
As a child, she had a fear of winter.
During winter, her adoptive parents would provide warm clothes for her brothers, while she would always wear their hand-me-downs. Her brothers were not kind to her; they often took her old clothes and discarded them without offering her a chance to wear them.
As a result, her lips frequently turned purple from the cold.
and continued to tremble.
Perhaps the neighbors had informed her about her adoptive parents, mentioning that they only had one daughter and that she was treated poorly. Did they intend for her to freeze to death?
After being discussed frequently, her adoptive mother would dig out some of her brother’s old clothes for her to wear.
She longed for new clothes; it was merely a dream.
Consequently, her adoptive parents raised her. Despite knowing she was originally a daughter of the Farrell family, she could never feel grateful to her adoptive parents. If her adoptive father hadn’t been corrupt and cruel, she wouldn’t have been placed with them.
She imagined staying and growing up with her biological parents. Even if she weren’t successful, at least she wouldn’t be hungry, cold, or bullied.
Her adoptive father had replaced her and mistreated her. The separation from her biological parents was entirely the fault of her adoptive parents.
Of course, after handing over the money to her adoptive mother, her biological mother immediately demanded it back.
She was indifferent.
She gave her adoptive mother a sum of money to reimburse her for the cost of raising her. As for her adoptive mother’s inability to keep the money, that was her problem.
“Miss, you should also consider making some close friends,” Mr. Fraser suggested. “On weekends, you could meet up with them.”
The focus was on a swift resolution.
She felt she couldn’t compare to those around her.
wealthy women, and they disapproved of her fast-paced shopping style.
