Serenity took Sonny to Lewis & Co., where he played in Duncan’s office for a while.
Thinking about visiting FC Manor during winter vacation, Sonny quickly asked Serenity to take him to the York Corporation to find Zachary.
Duncan smiled and remarked, “Sonny, you just said you liked Uncle Lewis. Within two minutes of arriving, and you’re already off to find your uncle.”
Duncan turned off the computer, supported himself on his desk to stand, took a couple of steps, and then sat in his wheelchair. He maneuvered the chair forward and said, “Let’s go; I’ll join you. It’s perfect timing since I have a project to discuss with you and Uncle.”
Serenity offered to push Duncan, but he declined her assistance.
Duncan said, “I switched to an automatic one, so I can steer it myself.”
Serenity smiled and replied, “Brother Duncan, you should have switched to an automatic one long ago.”
Duncan responded, “I did switch to the automatic one a while back, yet I still can’t win your sister’s heart.”
Serenity was left speechless.
She had thought Duncan was rough around the edges, carefree, and without ulterior motives, but she was mistaken.
How could Duncan lack scheming if he built Lewis & Co. into a company valued at over $10 billion?
These high-powered executives were all strategic and capable individuals.
“Sonny, come here; Uncle Lewis will give you a hug,” Duncan said, unreservedly sharing his thoughts, as his relationship with Liberty was solid.
When he asked Liberty to get a marriage certificate with him, she no longer hesitated.
Chasing a partner often required some clever tactics.
Didn’t Zachary also use strategies when pursuing his wife?
Sonny glanced at Serenity and saw that she wasn’t stopping him. He eagerly climbed onto Duncan’s lap and settled into his arms.
Serenity opened the office door and…
Duncan was allowed to take his electric wheelchair out. When he emerged, he grabbed Sonny’s small schoolbag and followed him.
At the elevator entrance, they encountered a female client who had come to discuss business with Duncan. The woman was around Duncan’s age and had applied exquisite makeup to mask her true age, giving her a youthful appearance. Dressed in a tailored women’s suit, she looked both smart and capable, accompanied by her female secretary.
As soon as they exited the elevator, both women spotted Duncan.
“Mr. Lewis,” the client greeted him with a smile, stepping out of the elevator alongside her secretary.
When she noticed Serenity behind her, her expression became somewhat inscrutable, but she still offered a polite greeting: “Young Mistress York.”
“Ms. Girard,” Serenity replied, recognizing the woman from several previous encounters at banquets and occasionally at the Wiltspoon Hotel. Most individuals in the business community were familiar faces.
“Do you remember me, Young Mistress York?” Ms. Girard asked.
Serenity smiled and responded, “A strong woman like you always leaves a powerful impression on me, Ms. Girard. I am truly impressed.”
Strong women are not only intelligent and capable; they also possess great resilience. After her husband passed away, Ms. Girard took charge of the company, as her in-laws were too old to manage it and her son was still too young to take over. Thus, she stepped in to oversee the entire business.
Initially, she seemed like a wealthy lady living comfortably, but she ultimately became well-versed in the complexities of business.
After her husband passed away, she took over the company and faced numerous hardships and challenges. Fortunately, she eventually found the strength to stand up, stabilize her late husband’s business, and take control of it herself.
