Serenity was a foodie, believing that eating was the most important thing in the world.

No matter how significant the matter at hand, she insisted on eating first before discussing it.

Liberty smiled and said, “I woke up late today. If I return to the company after breakfast, I’ll be late. It’s better for me to just pack my breakfast and head back to the office. After I eat, I only have a morning meeting. You must be busy, but I’d like to go back this weekend to spend some time with Sonny.”

Serenity hummed in agreement.

Liberty packed her breakfast and, upon returning to the office, quickly finished her meal before the meeting started.

Afterwards, she sent a voice message to Duncan, stating, “I had a dream one night where a woman whose face I couldn’t see came to me and said, ‘You don’t want me anymore, and you’ve asked me to leave you.’”

Duncan, who was undergoing rehabilitation, didn’t listen to her voice message right away.

After sending the message, Liberty didn’t wait for his reply, as the secretary reminded her it was time for the meeting.

About half an hour later, Duncan took a break before retrieving his mobile phone from the wheelchair. He eagerly opened Liberty’s new WhatsApp message and listened to it.

Upon hearing Liberty’s voice message, Duncan lost his composure.

He wanted to call Liberty immediately but hesitated, fearing she might be busy, so he opted to send her a message first: “Liberty, are you busy?”

Liberty didn’t respond, leading Duncan to believe she was occupied.

Feeling anxious, Duncan decided he couldn’t disturb Liberty.

He paused his rehabilitation, sat back in the wheelchair, and steered it away from the lawn and back toward the house.

Ten minutes later, the bodyguard pushed Duncan out of the main room and toward his car.

Soon after, the bodyguard drove away from the Lewis family mansion.

Duncan

always worn a sullen expression, making it clear to anyone who saw him that he was in a bad mood. As they approached Lewis & Co., Duncan suddenly instructed, “Head to the York Corporation.” The bodyguard complied respectfully, turning the car around at an intersection, driving down the opposite street, and then turning onto another road toward the York Corporation. They arrived in less than ten minutes.

Duncan was Zachary’s best friend, and their two major groups had a strong cooperative relationship. Whenever Duncan visited, he did not need to call ahead or make an appointment; he could go straight to the top floor anytime to meet Zachary. Typically, Duncan would maneuver his wheelchair independently, but today he was anxious and requested his bodyguards to assist him.

Once they reached the top floor and exited the elevator, Zachary’s secretary greeted him. “Mr. Lewis,” she said. Duncan nodded slightly and asked, “Is Zachary in the office?”

“Mr. Lewis, Mr. York is inside and is expecting you. You can just knock and go in,” the secretary replied, assuming Duncan was there to discuss new projects and ongoing cooperation with Zachary.

Duncan acknowledged the secretary with a nod. The bodyguard knocked on the president’s office door and pushed him inside. Zachary looked up; upon seeing Duncan, he returned to reviewing his documents. Duncan signaled to the bodyguard to leave, then stood up from his wheelchair, took two steps, and sat in the black chair opposite Zachary. Zachary closed the folder, looked at Duncan for a moment, and asked, “Duncan, you seem to have…

“Is something on your mind? What happened? Share it with me, and I’ll see if I can help,” Zachary said.

Duncan approached Zachary with anxiety, eager to learn if Liberty had mentioned anything to Serenity. However, when he faced Zachary, he found himself at a loss for words.
