-Serenity said to Zachary, “Let’s wait for Abby to arrive before we order.”
“Sure, you can make the arrangements,” Zachary replied, indifferent.
Abby was the wife Grandma had chosen for Evan. If nothing unforeseen occurred, she would eventually become his sister-in-law. There was no harm in meeting her beforehand.
However, Serenity was uncertain about who Evan would ultimately choose.
That was Evan’s decision; he needed to handle it himself.
Serenity instructed Sonny to wash his hands first.
Zachary settled onto the sofa.
Evan stood by the door, curious about who else Serenity had invited for dinner.
He had messaged Elian, but Elian hadn’t responded.
“D*mn it, I heard I was in trouble, yet you don’t even reply to my messages. Are you afraid I’ll drag you into it?”
Evan muttered to himself. Soon, the sound of familiar high heels echoed in the hallway.
Could it be…
After a moment of thought, he recalled.
The footsteps resembled Abby’s.
It couldn’t be her, could it?
Abby was far away in Hiribaty and didn’t know Serenity. How could Serenity have invited her to dinner?
Evan doubted his hearing, but as Abby’s figure came into view, he could no longer deceive himself.
That was definitely Abby.
He had heard correctly.
Evan stared at Abby in disbelief.
As she approached, a sudden realization hit him.
No wonder Serenity mentioned that Evan had done something wrong. Zachary had said he had brought shame to the York family.
Abby must have gone to Serenity to complain about him, right?
Why had she come to Wiltspoon?
She arrived without…
He said a word, catching him completely off guard.

“Evan.”
When Evan regained his composure, Abby was already standing before him.
“Miss Du, long time no see.” After collecting his thoughts, Evan greeted Abby with calmness and politeness.
“Long time no see.” Abby had something on her mind.
Evan smiled warmly. “Miss Du, when did you arrive in Wiltspoon? Why didn’t you let me know you were coming? I would have happily picked you up at the airport and done my best to fulfill my duties as your landlord.”
Abby shot back, “If you don’t answer my calls or respond to my messages, you might as well have put me on your blacklist. How could I possibly tell you? Really, can I even visit Wiltspoon? Maybe Fourth Young Master York will stop me along the way.”
Despite Abby’s criticism, Evan maintained his composure and replied with a smile, “Miss Du, you’re joking; how could I do something like that? It’s not that I ignored your calls. When I returned to Wiltspoon, I was using a different mobile number than the one I had in Hiribaty. I left that phone behind and didn’t bring it back, so I wasn’t aware that you had tried to reach me.”
Evan was telling blatant lies.
While it was true that he used a different number in Hiribaty, he still had the original phone with him.
Abby had sent numerous messages that Evan read but chose not to reply to. When Abby called, he let the phone ring without answering.
