“Was that Chelsea’s family just now?” Jasmine asked Serenity after sitting down.

Serenity replied, “That should be them. She’s living quite comfortably and is dressed like a jewel.”

Before Liberty got divorced, Chelsea had visited the bookstore to vent to Serenity, and Jasmine had encountered her several times.

Jasmine could hardly recall such a distinguished woman.

“It is her,” Serenity responded calmly. “Lucas called out for Sonny twice, and she even covered Lucas’s mouth to keep him quiet while we were eating. She used to visit my sister’s house with her entire family every weekend to eat and drink. She never helped with anything but always criticized my sister.”

No matter how things changed, the Brown family still felt superior. They believed that Wiltspoon was too small, and they would occasionally run into people they disliked.

Abby, unaware of the past events, chose not to ask questions and simply listened intently.

Jasmine remarked, “The Brown family is truly strange. So much has happened, and we thought they would change, but we were mistaken.”

Serenity continued, “For a time, Chelsea was helping my sister target Jessica because she had rescued her little treasure. Once Jessica entered the picture, she felt she had repaid our kindness and acted differently. She often belittled Brother Duncan in front of Sonny and made disparaging remarks about him. She didn’t want my sister and Brother Duncan to marry smoothly.”

Jasmine quickly turned to Sonny, saying, “Sonny, don’t listen to their nonsense. Your Uncle Duncan is a wonderful man who treats you and your mother very well. Ignore what your father and aunt say.”

Sonny nodded thoughtfully. “Auntie, I understand. I really like Uncle Duncan, and I want him to be my second father.”

Liberty explained to Sonny about his real father and…

Sonny’s stepfather was also his father. She mentioned that if Sonny’s mother married Uncle Duncan, then Uncle Duncan, as the stepfather, would need to raise him alongside her. This would mean he had fulfilled his role as a father. It’s not admirable for Sonny to lack gratitude; he should show respect and loyalty to Uncle Duncan.

However, Sonny was not inclined to do so. Duncan treated Sonny better than Hank did. In Sonny’s young mind, Duncan held a more significant place. Hank spent too little time with him, and Sonny’s feelings for his father were diminishing.

Soon, they began eating. Sonny sat between Serenity and Jasmine, who frequently brought him food, and he ate happily. Abby observed Sonny and remarked, “Sonny is incredibly sensible and well-behaved. A child his age usually can’t sit still; they tend to move around, run, and even cry.”

Yet, Sonny was solely focused on his meal. He ate heartily, unlike other children who couldn’t remain seated. While eating, he said, “My aunt told me that food is the most important thing for people, so we should eat first.”

Abby laughed. “Sister Seren, your nephew has certainly been influenced by you.” Serenity replied, “I’ve been taking care of him since he was a little one, and he’s nearly four now, so it shouldn’t have much of an effect. When Sonny plays, he should do so freely, and when we go out, he should follow the adults. That way, he’ll behave and won’t be a bother.”

Abby added, “Children like him are truly angels. When I get married, I hope to have an angelic child like Sonny.” Jasmine teased Abby, saying, “You’d better catch Evan first!”

“First,” Abby stated as she picked up food for herself. “He doesn’t love me. I initially wanted to fight for this relationship, but now my confidence has dwindled. Everyone claims that the son of the York family is very devoted in his relationships. If he falls for someone else, no matter how hard she tries, he will never love her back.”

Jasmine remarked to Serenity, “This is the second Elisa.”

Abby added, “Don’t you think what I said makes sense?”
