George’s business was doing well, and Chelsea certainly wasn’t short on money. It was perfectly fine for the whole family to enjoy hot pot without inviting his parents. However, after the meal, Chelsea still had to ask her mother to cover the bill. Oddly enough, Hank didn’t seem upset about it.

Hank said, “Sonny, Daddy understands. Next time I have some free time, I’ll take you out for hot pot. I’m busy now, so I won’t talk to you any longer. Be sure to listen to your aunt.”

“Dad, I’m very obedient. You go ahead and work,” Sonny replied, having finished her complaints and happily ending the call with Hank.

Serenity listened quietly throughout the conversation.

After Sonny returned the phone to Serenity, she gently tapped Sonny’s forehead and remarked, “Sonny, you’ve learned how to complain.”

However, Chelsea’s behavior was truly excessive.

It wasn’t Serenity’s concern, and she didn’t mind.

If Sonny wanted to express her grievances, it was a matter for the Brown family.

If Serenity informed Hank, he might suspect she was intentionally trying to set Chelsea up. But if Sonny mentioned it, Hank would have no reason to doubt her.

Sonny blinked her big eyes and asked Serenity, “Auntie, am I complaining? I just told Dad what I saw and heard. How is that complaining?”

Serenity smiled and pinched her little face. “Yes, Sonny is speaking the truth. Your Aunt Chelsea has gone too far, but your grandparents and father are the ones who enabled her behavior. They are all to blame for spoiling her.”

If Hank’s parents and Hank himself hadn’t supported Chelsea unconditionally from the start, would she have become accustomed to relying on her family?

Serenity continued, “As long as your father pays child support every year and doesn’t owe any, we can’t control how their family spends their money.”

Sonny said, “Dad mentioned that driving to earn money is very tiring. Every time I went…”

visit my dad’s house, where he would always encourage me to study hard and be a good person. In the future, I aspire to be a successful boss working in an office, which would allow me to earn a lot of money. I don’t want to end up like my dad.”

Serenity brought Sonny over and held him in her arms. She advised him, “You should focus on your studies and strive to be a good person.”

Sonny replied, “Auntie, I will.”

Serenity continued, “Your father treats you very well. Being his only child, it’s important that you support him when he gets older, especially if he raised you well when you were young.”

Sonny nodded, understanding her words.

Serenity hugged Sonny and chose not to say anything further.

Despite the Brown family’s good nature, Hank often tried to undermine Duncan in Sonny’s eyes, yet Duncan remained Sonny’s father. He consistently provided child support, showed care for Sonny, and met his basic responsibilities as a dad.

Serenity didn’t want to criticize Hank in front of Sonny.

She also hoped that Sonny would grow up to be optimistic and open-minded.

Abby returned to the Wiltspoon Hotel, where she encountered Evan on the first floor.

She paused, looked at Evan, and raised her eyebrows, asking, “Evan, are you waiting for me here?”

Evan replied, “Abby, you’re overthinking it. I’m just eating here.”

Abby smiled and said, “In that case, I won’t keep you. Sister Seren invited me for hot pot, but I’m a bit too full. I think I’ll head back to my room to rest.”

Evan suggested, “You’re too stuffed to eat. Shouldn’t you take a walk to help with that? My sister-in-law is so kind to treat you to hot pot.”

Abby responded, “I really don’t feel like moving around anymore. Sister Seren is wonderful, and I came here hoping to find a boyfriend to…

“Perhaps I’ll be disappointed, but it’s nice to have two additional sisters,” she said.

Evan replied, “We’ve only met a few times, and the older sister is younger than the younger sister. Abby, I just realized how skilled you are at giving compliments.”
