In Trenton’s view, his parents favored Carrie the most. They transferred the family property to him after he informed them about Carrie’s reckless spending habits. His two aunts were keeping a close watch on Carrie, concerned that she might be exploited. To ensure he would retain the family property, his parents listened to him and officially transferred it into his name.

Carrie remarked, “I will continue to associate with you, my younger brother, for now. However, if you keep bringing them up, lecturing me, and arguing with me, I will cut off contact. Honestly, this is the worst that could happen to me.”

She had begun a relationship with Mr. Labbe, which provided her with ample money to spend. As long as she continued to work hard for him, she would be able to save a considerable amount, even if he eventually stopped supporting her.

Trenton believed that Carrie was beyond help and no longer wished to persuade her. Their discussions often ended in arguments, so he quietly covered her bills and took her out for meals instead.

After dinner, Trenton assisted Carrie in searching for a place to live. Once they found a rental, he accompanied her to purchase various household items. He was occupied until 11 PM.

“Sister, it’s getting late. I’ll head back now,” Trenton said, glancing at the time and deciding against staying to help Carrie clean. “This room is quite new and tidy. Just put on the sheets, and you can sleep. If you need to clean up, I can come over tomorrow afternoon to help.”

He left her a key for easier access when he wanted to check on her in the future.

Carrie nodded, replying, “Go home.

Please be cautious on the road and send me a message when you arrive home. I’m renting here, so please don’t mention to your older sister that I want nothing to do with her; she is the one I dislike the most. My happiness drives her mad with jealousy.”

In front of Trenton, she openly expressed her jealousy toward Camryn.

Trenton feigned ignorance and left under Carrie’s watchful gaze.

Carrie observed from the balcony as Trenton exited the apartment building, hailed a taxi, and drove away.

She returned indoors, quickly closing the doors, windows, and balcony door. Taking the key, she locked the door to her rented place and hurried downstairs.

Once downstairs, she called one of the Labbe family’s bodyguards to come pick her up.

The Labbe family’s bodyguards had been nearby, secretly following her throughout the night.

Less than two minutes after Carrie left the apartment building, the bodyguards arrived. However, instead of driving toward her, the car sped away.

Carrie thought to herself, “What are those two darn bodyguards doing? I’m right here, and they can’t see me?”

Fuming, she called one of the bodyguards and exclaimed, “Are you blind? Can’t you see me standing here? Hurry up and pick me up; I’m freezing!”

Even though she wore a thick coat, the late-night temperature had plummeted, leaving her cold.

“Ma’am, someone is following you,” the bodyguard replied.

Carrie was taken aback.

“Ma’am, please don’t return tonight. Stay in the rented house until we handle the people following you, then you can leave.”

Lowering her voice, Carrie asked, “Can’t you deal with them now? Are they Serenity’s people or Camryn’s?”

The bodyguard responded, “It’s likely your eldest sister’s associates. Since you met your brother, it’s convenient for her people to tail you.”

Carrie also believed that the chances of it being Camryn were high.

Carrie said, “They are her people; eliminate them!”

The bodyguard replied, “We can’t eliminate them. Doing so would create more problems. Ma’am, please return to the rental house first. We will find a way to draw them away.”
