Chapter 631

“Is that you, Ms. Sox?” a voice interrupted the trio.

Jasmine and her brother turned toward the source of the voice.

Serenity sipped her wine calmly, seemingly oblivious to Josh’s presence.

“Mr. Bucham?”

Jasmine was surprised to see Josh here.

Josh explained, “I came out with a few friends to unwind since it’s the weekend. I didn’t expect to find you here, Ms. Sox.”

“Do you mind if I sit here?”

Jasmine smiled and replied, “Well, you’ve already sat down. Are you waiting for your friends?”

She noticed that he was alone.

Josh took a seat and greeted Serenity, who merely nodded in acknowledgment.

“My friends have left,” he said.

Looking at the drawing, Josh asked Jasmine, “Who created this? May I take a closer look?”

As Jasmine glanced at her best friend, Josh inferred who the artist was. Serenity continued to drink silently. Interpreting her silence as a no, Josh refrained from picking up the drawing but still managed to examine it closely.

He recognized that it was a portrait of Zachary.

Josh had to admit that Serenity possessed a talent for art; she truly brought Zachary’s likeness to life.

However, there was one notable detail: she had intentionally drawn a tiny heart outside of Zachary’s chest…

Was she implying that Zachary had a small heart?

Was that a lake or a river depicted behind Zachary’s portrait? The wavy lines along the shore raised questions. There was also a ball included.

Josh scrutinized the drawing and then turned his gaze to Serenity. Noticing her flushed cheeks and hazy eyes, he realized that she was not fully present.

“Ms. Hunt, you must be the artist. This is a masterpiece.”

The underlying message of the artwork seemed to suggest-

“Ball!”

“Hang on!”

Josh examined the drawing more closely. Was Zachary a lake ball? A river ball? A wavy ball?

He stared intently at the artwork until it finally dawned on him.

A slimeball.

The woman certainly had a unique talent for name-calling; she expressed her critiques through her art.

Josh would have taken out his phone to snap a picture to show Zachary, but Jasmine and her brother were nearby.

He had to give credit to the woman who had captured Zachary’s heart; she was definitely one of a kind.

“Ms. Sox, and this is?”

After admiring Serenity’s artwork, Josh inquired about Drake.

“My brother.”

Jasmine replied without revealing her brother’s name, seemingly reluctant for Josh to engage too much with him.

With a warm smile, Josh extended his hand to Drake and politely introduced himself. “Mr. Sox, I’m Josh Bucham. I went on a blind date with your sister.”

Jasmine turned to protest, but the fact remained that she had indeed gone on a blind date with Josh, leaving her no room to argue.

“Hello, Mr. Bucham. I’m Drake. You had a blind date with my sister?”

Drake looked to his sister for confirmation. Noticing her smile, albeit lacking enthusiasm, he understood it to be true.

He leaned in closer to whisper in Jasmine’s ear, “When did you go on a blind date with Mr. Bucham, Jas? Is he the one Mom said was a great guy? I think Mr. Bucham seems nice; he made a good first impression.” Jasmine pinched her brother’s thigh beneath the table, hissing through clenched teeth, “We’ll talk at home.”

She then turned to Josh with a grin, asking, “Do you come here often, Mr. Bucham?”

“No, this is my first time here. I heard Neon Nights was a great place, so I invited a few…”

My friends are over here for drinks since it’s been a while since I had to work on a weekend. I wanted to see if the scene is as good as everyone says.” Jasmine didn’t believe the story but chose to remain silent. Suddenly, Serenity collapsed onto the table. The alcohol had finally taken its toll, and she was out.
