Chapter 650

Alice suddenly exclaimed, “We’re also familiar with the York family. Should we invite them too?”

After she spoke, she quickly realized her mistake and hastily covered her mouth, glancing at her sister-in-law. “I apologize, I shouldn’t have said that.”

She also stole a look at Serenity to gauge her reaction to the mention of the York family.

Alice pondered, ‘Is Serenity’s family really the York family?’

Audrey, unfazed by her daughter-in-law’s comment, replied, “They wouldn’t send anyone even if we invited them. Let’s not embarrass ourselves.”

The elders of the York family had little regard for her daughter.

Elisa had harbored feelings for Zachary for many years and had pursued him openly; however, the York family’s elders never showed any interest, suggesting they had no desire to strengthen ties with the Stone family or become in-laws.

Audrey believed that finding her nieces was a momentous occasion and didn’t want the York family’s attitude to dampen her spirits.

Elisa felt a pang of sorrow but kept a smile on her face. “Don’t worry about me, Alice. It was Mom who was unclear. She mentioned inviting everyone we know, which includes the York family.”

“I won’t extend an invitation to them, Elisa.”

Audrey gently patted her daughter’s hand. Despite her admiration for the young men of the York family, the two families had been adversarial for too long. Even if her daughter had no feelings for Zachary, neither family would be sending invitations to the other.

She believed the strained relationship between the families would persist throughout her lifetime.

With no sign of reconciliation between Clive and Zachary, any hope for improvement might have to wait for the next generation.

“Lunch is ready, Ma’am,” a maid approached from behind.

Audrey spoke respectfully. She turned to Serenity and Liberty and said, “Let’s eat first. After lunch, we can relax for a bit, and then I’ll take you shopping. We’ll shop until we drop!”

“Aunt Audrey, we don’t need to buy anything,” Liberty replied, attempting to decline politely.

Audrey feigned an unhappy expression. “Liberty, don’t you want to go on a shopping spree with me?”

Serenity chuckled. “That’s not what my sister meant, Aunt Audrey. We already have clothes for the banquet.”

“What you have is yours, but I want to buy more for you. And let’s not forget Sonny; I want to dress him up as a handsome little gentleman.”

Elisa laughed, “Our Sonny is already a handsome little gentleman.”

“I’ve liked Sonny since the first time I saw him. I envied Serenity for having such a cute nephew, and I never imagined he would be my nephew too,” Elisa said with a smug smile.

Everyone found her amusing. Serenity held Sonny’s hand and followed Audrey into the dining hall.

Beep beep—

Her phone received a new message. She took out her phone and opened WhatsApp. Elisa, who was standing next to her, inadvertently glanced over and noticed that the message was from “Mr. York, Sudden Husband.”

Elisa teased, “Seren, does your husband message you every day while he’s on his business trip?”
