Chapter 663

Serenity first took out the small note.

The note read: “These two are recorder pens. Listen to the recordings when no one is around. – Josh Bucham.”

It had been sent to her by Josh.

Recorder pen?

What could be on these recorder pens that others couldn’t hear?

Serenity’s curiosity was overwhelming.

Since Josh had instructed her to listen to the recordings alone, she had to wait until she returned to her room after dinner.

“What is that, Seren? Who sent it to you?” Audrey asked, concerned.

Serenity tucked the note back into the bag and replied, “It’s just a pen I want to use. Mrs. Lane had someone send it to me.”

Audrey hummed in response but didn’t ask any further questions.

With her curiosity piqued, Serenity finished dinner and followed her sister upstairs, claiming she was going to help Audrey bathe Sonny.

The sisters’ rooms were adjacent to each other.

Audrey had arranged it this way so they could support one another in an unfamiliar environment.

Once in her room, Serenity closed the door, quickly opened the small black bag, and took out the two recorder pens.

She sat in front of the sofa and began listening to the recordings.

Upon hearing Jessica’s and Hank’s voices, she realized it was a conversation they had after their unexpected meeting earlier that afternoon.

Josh was truly impressive for being able to capture their conversation.

If he were present, he would likely say, “Thank you for the compliment!”

In reality, Josh was just being nosy. The person he had sent to gather evidence of Hank’s affair was still tailing him because Josh hadn’t sent word to stop the surveillance.

That was why the conversation continued to be recorded.

“With the face of an angel and the body of a devil to seduce Zachary…”

Serenity listened to Jessica’s conversation with Hank and sneered, “If Zachary can be seduced by another woman, then his name won’t be Zachary.”

That man was steadfast. After she became intoxicated, he refrained from touching her while helping her change clothes. It was clear he was not the impulsive type. He was not someone whom scum like Hank could compare to.

Serenity took out her phone, opened WhatsApp, replayed the contents of the recorder, and sent them as voice messages to Zachary.

Soon, Zachary called her. Serenity declined the call and opted for a video call instead. She missed him and wanted to see him. She also wanted to check if his complexion had improved. Had he seen a doctor and taken medication?

Serenity noticed her concern for him growing daily. Initially, she was thrilled to learn about his business trip. Just a few days later, she felt the ache of longing, wishing she could fly over and be with him.

Zachary hesitated for a long time before answering the video call. Once the call connected, he lowered the phone and switched to speaker mode, so Serenity could only see his chest.

“I can’t see you, Zachary. Raise the phone. Are you doing this on purpose so I can’t see you?”

Zachary endured his discomfort and replied in a low tone, “I’m working now. What is it? I’m listening.”

“It’s late, but you’re still working? Have you eaten dinner? Why are you still working when you have a cold? How much does your boss pay you? Why do you have to work so hard? Nothing is more important than your health.”

Serenity couldn’t help but scold him.

when she listened to what he had to say.
