Chapter 690

“Yeah, right.”

Zachary continued to pack his bags.

Serenity sat down, resuming her money counting.

York Corporation was undoubtedly the leading company in Wiltspoon. The corporation had significant financial resources, and even its subsidiary was generous. Serenity earned several thousand dollars for just a few days of taking care of Zachary.

Mr. Tank would have offered Serenity more money, but she might have suspected something.

After finishing her cash count, Serenity stood up and grabbed her trusty purse. It was a cheap canvas bag that would only cost a few dollars if purchased in bulk online. Nevertheless, it was practical and could hold cash worth tens of thousands.

Serenity stuffed the money into the purse while watching Zachary pack his suitcase. There wasn’t much to pack; she had already prepared his bags before his business trip.

Since Serenity had arrived in a hurry, she had only brought along two changes of clothes. The daily necessities were purchased here.

It didn’t take long for Zachary to finish packing. He approached Serenity, pulling the suitcase behind him, and said, “Mr. Tank arranged a private plane for us. I’ve contacted the flight crew. Let’s go.”

Serenity extended her hand, and Zachary dragged the suitcase with one hand while holding her hand with the other as they walked.

“Zachary, Mr. Bucham seems like a nice guy. How did you become such good friends with him? I wonder if there’s any chemistry between him and Jasmine. He’s a brilliant man, and it’s a shame he’s still single.”

Serenity truly hoped there would be some spark between them.

Zachary smiled. “Mr. Bucham and I have worked together for a long time, and we’ve become good friends over the years. I didn’t pursue him for any personal gain.”

“They’ll become friends even if there’s no romantic attraction between them.”

“Yeah.” Serenity decided to stop worrying about her best friend’s romantic life. Everyone approaches love differently. She and Zachary had arranged a date for Josh and Jasmine, but the outcome of the relationship depended on them.

A few hours later, Serenity and Zachary returned to Wiltspoon, making their first stop at York Corporation. Zachary asked Serenity to wait for him in the VIP lounge on the first floor while he reported to his superior. They would head home afterward.

“Go ahead. I’ll wait for you here,” she said.

Serenity settled onto the sofa in the lounge, signaling for Zachary to continue with his work. It was still early in the day, so she was content to wait.

Zachary asked someone to bring Serenity some snacks. He whispered a few words to the two receptionists before hurrying upstairs.

“Ms. Hunt, let us know if you need anything. We’ll be right outside,” one of the receptionists said.

One of them poured Serenity a glass of water. Standing up, Serenity accepted the glass and smiled, “Thank you.”

“Not at all, Ms. Hunt,” the receptionist replied cheerfully, finding the CEO’s wife quite friendly.

Serenity’s identity was well-known within York Corporation. Since Zachary hadn’t fully gone public about their marriage, everyone continued to address her by her maiden name.

“I’ll wait for Zachary here. Don’t let me hold you up; I’m fine,” she assured them.

The receptionist smiled back, “I’ll get back to work then. Just call me if you need anything, Ms. Hunt.”

Serenity nodded and thanked her.

Once the receptionist left, Serenity sent a text message to her sister. When there was no response, she decided to text her best friend instead.

[I’m back,

Jasmine, I’m currently waiting for my husband to update me on his work progress at York Corporation. The company has been giving me positive vibes, and I’m now considering applying for a job there. I could really benefit from gaining experience in a professional environment.
