Chapter 719
Serenity said, “I understand that marriage isn’t an option right now, but I’m thinking about the future. You’re young, Liberty. Are you planning to remain single for the rest of your life?”
“Why not? I believe I’m doing well. I don’t have to cater to my in-laws or deal with any issues related to a mother-in-law or sister-in-law. I can do what I want and spend how I like. I feel free.”
Her newfound freedom made Liberty realize why more women were choosing not to pursue marriage.
Serenity was left speechless.
“Don’t worry about me, Seren. My life couldn’t be better. Don’t you think I’m happier now that I’m divorced?”
Serenity nodded.
“Don’t you want me to be happy?”
“Of course.”
“Please don’t mention the possibility of a second marriage. I just escaped a bad situation, but Seren, that shouldn’t make you afraid of marriage. Your situation is different from mine. Zachary seems like a reliable guy.”
However, there was no guarantee that people wouldn’t change over time.
“Has Zachary gone to work?”
“Yes.”
As Liberty adjusted a wrap to secure her son in her bag, she said, “Remind Zachary to dress in layers when it’s cold. Make sure he doesn’t overwork himself; health is the priority, and everything else comes second.”
“He’s an adult. He should know how to take care of himself. He probably caught the flu from overworking. Stress isn’t good for building immunity, especially with the flu season approaching.”
Serenity didn’t have the courage to mention that Zachary had caught a cold from taking cold showers, which were a result of her actions.
“Do you need me to drive you to get what you need, or can you manage on your own?”
“I don’t need anything else for the shop right now. I was thinking of going to the market to pick up some spices to make my own sauce. I can use that when I open for business.”
“And what about appetizers? Should I buy them pre-made or make them myself?”
As she helped her sister strap Sonny onto her back, Serenity remarked, “Making everything from scratch will be a hassle. You should buy ready-made appetizers from a trusted brand. They might be pricier, but remember that breakfast can yield small profits and quick returns, so keep an eye on your costs.”
“I’ll go with you to the market, Liberty.”
Liberty didn’t object.
With Mrs. Lane accompanying them, the sisters headed to the market and purchased a variety of spices.
They then returned to Liberty’s rented apartment.
Liberty began preparing condiments and appetizers to use for her business after the New Year.
“I need to talk to you about something, Liberty.”
“Go ahead.”
Liberty looked up briefly at her sister before returning to her preparations.
“Zachary has been keeping something from me.”
Joining Sonny in his playtime, Mrs. Lane overheard the conversation and turned her attention toward them.
She wondered, ‘Has Mr. Zachary been honest with her about everything?’
Liberty paused her work and asked her sister, “What did Zachary hide from you? If it’s important, you should hear his side of the story. There’s no need to start an argument. Everyone has their secrets, and even married couples don’t share everything.”
