Chapter 749

Zachary chuckled softly. “I’ll turn into a wolf at home.”

Serenity gently squeezed the back of his hand, but he affectionately raised her hand to his lips and kissed it.

Just as she was about to pinch him again, he suddenly led her forward with a serious expression, leaving her too embarrassed to follow through with her plan.

No one at York Corporation was surprised to see Zachary attending the annual dinner with Serenity this year. All the executives treated her with courtesy.

However, this year, Josh’s date was Jasmine, who did not share the Bucham surname, which surprised everyone.

The female employees who admired Josh quickly caught on. Upon hearing his introduction of Jasmine, they speculated she was the one he liked, casting envious and jealous glances her way.

Mr. Bucham actually has someone he fancies!

He was following in Mr. York’s footsteps.

Even though everyone looked at Jasmine with jealousy, no one dared to confront her openly, primarily out of fear of Josh.

Serenity whispered to Zachary, “It seems that Mr. Bucham is quite popular at your company. If looks could kill, Jasmine would have been a victim countless times by now.”

Zachary replied casually, “Mr. Bucham holds a prestigious position. He’s young, handsome, and wealthy. He also comes off as approachable. Although his penchant for gossip is excessive, he’s still a desirable catch.”

Josh was left speechless.

Was his boss praising him or putting him down?

“Do you want to head home early, Seren?”

“Can we leave early?”

This was his company’s annual dinner, and she was his plus one. After mingling for a while, Serenity felt ready to leave.

Her colleagues discussed work while she could only focus on eating and drinking. Everyone glanced at her with curious expressions, but she couldn’t interpret their looks. Perhaps they noticed how much she was consuming and were secretly judging her as a glutton.

“We can,” he said.

In previous years, he had left early, but this year he stayed for over an hour because of her.

“Then let’s go. I’m full anyway,” she replied.

As a foodie, she loved to eat, and Zachary always took care of her, bringing her favorite dishes. Since she arrived, he had been attentive, hovering nearby.

Zachary affectionately brushed her nose. “All you do is eat. Are you full? If not, I can get you more food.”

“No, I’ll burst if I eat any more. The chefs in your company’s cafeteria are truly excellent; everything they prepare tastes amazing.”

The dinner was served buffet-style, featuring a wide variety of dishes. Serenity sampled many and found them all delicious; the cafeteria chefs were skilled enough to work in upscale hotels.

“They weren’t prepared by the cafeteria chefs, but by chefs from our group’s hotels,” he clarified.

Serenity suddenly realized why everything tasted so good. She had eaten so much that she felt like a pig.

“Let’s go home. You’re full, but I’m still hungry,” Zachary said with a meaningful tone.

Serenity caught the implication behind his words and felt herself blush slightly.

Once Zachary took Serenity away, the tension in the room eased, and the atmosphere shifted. Mr. York, having eaten his fill, began to play with the hair of a delicate young woman in his arms.
