Chapter 764
Liberty smiled and said, “Zachary is a good man. Don’t compare him to someone like Hank.”
Glancing at the shopping cart, Liberty commented, “It’s full. Are you planning to get more? Why don’t we stop here and take these items home? We can see what else we need and decide from there.”
It would be difficult to carry all the shopping bags up the stairs if they purchased too much.
Mrs. Lane was not present because Serenity had given her time off to spend with her family during the holidays.
Serenity also provided Mrs. Lane with a Christmas bonus and some gifts, showing appreciation for her significant help to both Serenity and her sister. Liberty, too, gave Mrs. Lane a Christmas bonus.
Additionally, Mrs. Lane received another Christmas bonus and gifts from Zachary, allowing her to enjoy the festive season with her family without financial concerns.
Working for Mr. Zachary was a wise choice for her.
Both the missus and Liberty were incredibly kind individuals.
Aside from Mrs. Lane, Jim, who had served loyally by Zachary’s side, received a double Christmas bonus, a performance bonus, and Christmas gifts. He was Mr. Zachary’s most trusted bodyguard.
Jim made a smart move by getting on the good side of the missus.
“Alright then,” Liberty agreed.
Serenity added some snacks to the shopping cart and followed her sister to the checkout line.
Unfortunately, while in line, they encountered the troublesome couple. Serenity and her sister were at the front, while Hank stood at the back.
Hank still had feelings for Jessica. After receiving her threat, he returned to comfort her and filled the shopping cart with gifts for his family as well as for Jessica’s parents and brothers.
Jessica calmed down and stopped causing a scene. Once again, everything seemed perfect for the couple.
Hank watched as Serenity and her sister moved ahead.
Hank watched as items were taken from the cart to the cash register, and the total kept rising. Although Liberty wasn’t paying, he felt that his former sister-in-law was being reckless with money. She was purchasing a lot of items.
Serenity had taken on most of the household responsibilities to assist her sister while living under Hank’s roof, contributing only three thousand dollars for living expenses, which seemed insignificant. She would occasionally buy food for Sonny and fruit for the family during festive holidays, but Serenity had never brought his parents wine or cigars.
Now, however, she was preparing to give expensive gifts to the Yorks, even purchasing high-priced snacks. This did not sit well with Hank, but he felt it was not his place to comment since Serenity was no longer his sister-in-law.
Serenity had spent tens of thousands on shopping, including alcohol and cigars. As she swiped her credit card without hesitation, Hank couldn’t help but glance at Jessica. Although Jessica wasn’t officially his wife yet, they were living together, and their wedding was set for Valentine’s Day, making her his fiancée. However, Jessica had not made any thoughtful gestures for the upcoming holidays. Back then, Liberty…
