Chapter 810
Serenity’s heart plummeted to her stomach.
Zachary typically drove a national MPV. Had he intentionally purchased that car to deceive her?
She imagined him cruising in a luxurious vehicle, flanked by his security detail, as was fitting for the stylish heir of the York family!
“Seren.”
Zachary exited the car and strode purposefully toward her.
“Seren.”
He approached the sisters, first addressing Liberty with an apology. “I know I was wrong, Liberty. Can I have a moment alone with Seren?”
Liberty tilted her head, glancing at her sister.
Serenity coldly replied, “What is there to discuss? You’re the esteemed Mr. York, up there while I’m down here. I’m just an ordinary citizen, and you’re beyond my reach. I don’t have the right to talk to you.”
She pulled her sister along, preparing to leave.
“Seren.”
Zachary reached out, attempting to stop her.
Liberty released Serenity’s arm and said, “You should hear him out, Seren. No matter what, give him a chance to explain.”
Serenity struggled to shake Zachary off, but he held on tightly.
In a fit of rage, Serenity suddenly lashed out, hitting him like a wild person.
Zachary endured her outburst in silence, waiting until she was exhausted before pulling her into his embrace. He held her securely in his arms.
It was an outcome he had anticipated.
That was why he had dreaded confronting the truth.
After speaking with Ben, Zachary took his advice to heart and found the courage to be completely honest.
“Let go, Zachary! Let go of me! You liar! Bastard!”
Pain coursed through Serenity, but Zachary refused to let her go. She might just walk away the moment he released his grip.
“I’m sorry, Seren. I’m truly sorry,” Zachary repeated, his voice filled with regret.
He owed her a great deal. After all, he had concealed the truth from her for far too long.
Her mind drifted back to when Zachary had fallen ill with a severe flu. During that time, he had asked her what circumstances would lead her to leave him. She had cited domestic abuse, infidelity, and endless lies as her breaking point.
She also mentioned that if she were to leave for real, she wouldn’t make a scene or say anything.
After Serenity had exhausted herself with hitting, yelling, and biting, Zachary bent down and picked her up, carrying her to his Rolls Royce.
Serenity attempted to resist, but her energy was spent. Realizing she had to face the truth sooner or later, she surrendered and allowed him to place her inside the car.
Moments later, Zachary’s Rolls Royce departed from York Corporation, escorted by his convoy.
“To the villa on the hilltop,” Zachary instructed the driver in a husky voice.
Serenity recalled how he had lied about a mortgage on the villa, revealing that he didn’t fully own it as it was still under a mortgage. Closing her eyes, she couldn’t bear to look at him.
Every memory she had shared with him felt like a lie.
Had he ever spoken a single truth to her?
Zachary had once thrown a fit because she hadn’t kept him informed about Liberty, making a scene and accusing her of not considering him family. That argument nearly escalated into another round of silent treatment.
In the end, he was the one who had deceived her all along.
How hypocritical.
In the car, Zachary clung to Serenity, and her refusal to even glance at him was tearing him apart inside.
Their affection…
The moment he accepted the interview, they were no longer for each other. Would their relationship ever return to what it once was?
