Chapter 827

Zachary felt a sense of relief.

After a brief moment of silence, he walked over and sat across from Serenity.

He attempted to place food on her plate with his fork, but she lifted her plate to avoid his gesture, rejecting his offering.

With a bitter expression, Zachary drew back his hand and transferred the food from his fork to his own plate instead.

“Seren, these are all your favorites. Please have some more,” he said gently.

Serenity did not respond, not even with a glance. She simply continued to eat on her own.

“I’ll help you peel your favorite shrimp.”

Zachary put on disposable gloves to assist her, but Serenity just picked up a shrimp and ate it whole, shell and all.

Zachary was left speechless.

His wife didn’t even give him the chance to assist her.

Ding dong… Ding dong…

The doorbell rang.

It was already dark and chilly outside. Who could be visiting at this hour?

“I’ll get the door.”

Brandt went to answer it.

A car was parked in front of the villa, but Brandt didn’t recognize it, indicating the visitor wasn’t a member of the York family.

The entire family had come together to deceive Serenity, so everyone felt too embarrassed to come over now.

They decided to let Zachary handle things on his own and would discuss a plan if he faced defeat.

Zachary would be at a loss for words if he knew what they were thinking.

“It’s me, Brandt.”

A person emerged from the car—it was Mrs. Lane.

She waved at Brandt, who quickly approached her while pulling out the gate keys and asked, “What brings you here, Mrs. Lane?”

“I sent Liberty over. She’s the missus’s older sister.”

Serenity’s phone had turned off automatically when the battery died,

Liberty began to worry when she couldn’t reach her sister. Uncertain about the fate of the stubborn couple, she asked Mrs. Lane to send her over.

Coincidentally, Serenity’s car, which had been left at the entrance of York Corporation earlier that day, still had its keys in the ignition. Liberty drove it home, which is how she arrived at her sister’s place.

“How is the missus, Brandt?” she inquired.

Brandt glanced at the car behind Mrs. Lane and whispered, “It’s bad. Mr. Zachary is on the verge of breaking down. Do you think he can recover after the missus wrote him a divorce agreement? He went berserk. How could the missus be any better off than him?”

Though Zachary would never physically harm Serenity, his forceful hugs and kisses infuriated her. Additionally, he had even knocked her unconscious!

In short, the situation was chaotic.

Once the gate opened, Liberty drove in and parked in the small open lot under Brandt’s guidance. She quickly exited the car, leaving Sonny behind. She had asked Duncan to help look after him. When she received Jasmine’s phone call, she rushed out with Sonny in her arms and happened to stop Duncan’s car; he had been accompanying the mother and son ever since.

While Duncan was not as attentive as Josh, he understood the importance of supporting his friend. As he accompanied Liberty and Sonny, he frequently spoke positively about Zachary in front of Liberty.

After the truth came out, Liberty refrained from saying anything negative about Zachary. She assured Duncan that she would support her sister, no matter what decision she made.

Ultimately, the choice was Serenity’s to make.

“Ms. Hunt,” Brandt said, greeting Liberty with respect.

“Mr. Zachary and the missus are having dinner now. Please come…”

Liberty’s anxious heart eased a bit upon hearing that the couple was having a meal. That was the Serenity she recognized. Even if the world crumbled around her, she still needed to eat. How could she muster the energy for anything else without sufficient nourishment? With Brandt and Mrs. Lane guiding her, Liberty entered the lounge of the luxurious villa. “Liberty?”
