Chapter 844
“If this had occurred two months ago, I believe she would have gladly agreed to a divorce without any regrets. However, I doubt she would do so now. After all, moving on from a relationship is not easy.”
After a brief pause, Josh asked curiously, “Have you gotten her pregnant?”
Zachary replied, “Nope…”
Zachary and Serenity did not use protection; they had been trying to conceive a child, but to no avail.
Perhaps they were simply not destined to have a baby at this time.
“Since you don’t have a child connecting you to Serenity, you can only rely on yourself. Zachary, you’re no fool. Since the incident occurred, you’ve acted purely on instinct. Ask yourself: If you were Serenity, how would you feel after being deceived, imprisoned, and hurt?”
“At this point, it’s not about whether you lied to her; that’s a minor issue. The real problem is that your actions after making a mistake have upset Serenity.”
“You worry she wants a divorce, but can you really prevent that by imprisoning her? Doing so will only escalate the conflict between you.”
“Let her go. Take a few days apart. Both of you need to cool down. Gather your thoughts and consider how to rebuild Serenity’s trust. Your web of lies has caused her to lose faith in you.”
“Once she has had some time to calm down, she might reflect on your positive qualities and the good memories you share, including the times you supported her during hardships. These are the moments that define your relationship.”
“As she thinks about your strengths, focus on regaining her trust. That’s the way to break the ice. If you continue to confine her, she will only dwell on your negative traits and the lies you’ve told, overshadowing all the good you’ve done for her.”
“Don’t criticize her. Many people act this way too. When someone criticizes another, they tend to focus on the negative traits of the other person. That’s why she criticizes you relentlessly. Who considers the good qualities of someone while criticizing? Temporary memory loss often occurs in such situations.”
Zachary remained silent, appearing to be deep in thought.
Chapter 844
“Zachary, think about it. If you had apologized to Serenity for deceiving her, she would have been fine after a few days. Both of you are now at an impasse due to the mistakes you made after your confession, which only added to the situation.”
“Let’s set aside Serenity’s feelings for a moment. If it were me, I would certainly be furious if I had been deceived, struck, and even imprisoned.”
“Consider others.”
“You came here in a hurry. Have you eaten? I assume you haven’t had a proper meal in the past two days. Would you like to go out to eat? I’ll treat you.”
Zachary shook his head and replied, “I don’t have an appetite.”
“Did Serenity go on a hunger strike?”
“No. She’ll definitely eat, no matter what happens.”
Josh smiled. “That’s good. It’s important to prioritize food. Don’t let yourself go hungry.”
“She believes she needs to be well-fed to stand up to me.”
“Don’t use the term ‘fight.’ It sounds like you two are adversaries. You’re married; it’s just a conflict. Which couple hasn’t faced conflicts in their lives?”
“Couples shouldn’t go to bed angry. If you address issues, they will gradually resolve.”
Zachary looked at his best friend and said, “Josh, you don’t even have an official girlfriend, yet you act like a relationship counselor and an expert in relationships.”
Josh chuckled and remarked, “As an outsider, I can see things more clearly than those directly involved. In fact, outsiders generally have a clearer perspective on the situation than you two, who are caught up in it. Zachary, you need to adjust your attitude and let go of your domineering ways.”
