Chapter 845

“It’s not a major issue at the moment, even though Serenity mentioned divorce; she hasn’t taken any concrete steps yet. All she has done is draft a divorce agreement. As long as you haven’t received it, there’s still a chance to reverse the situation. It all depends on how you approach it.”

“Give it some thought. I’ll go get you some food. Look at yourself; after just one night, you’ve lost the vitality you once had. You look drained, and I feel for you.”

“If only you were in love with me instead! I assure you, if that were the case, you wouldn’t be dealing with these troubles.”

Zachary grabbed something from the desk and tossed it at Josh, unable to resist teasing, “I’m straight. Stop trying to trick me. If Ms. Sox finds out, you can forget about getting together with her.”

Seeing Zachary smile, Josh remarked, “Now that you can laugh, I feel relieved.”

He then left to buy his best friend some food.

This gesture warmed Zachary’s heart.

He felt incredibly fortunate to have Josh as his friend.

When Zachary was alone in the office, he stood up and walked to the window, gazing at the tall buildings in the distance.

They say one can gain perspective by stepping back.

Was he cornering her?

Could he see the broader picture by taking two steps back?

As Zachary pondered the advice from Josh and his sister-in-law, he realized that his actions were actually damaging his relationship with Serenity.

His sister-in-law, Jasmine, and Josh had told him that Serenity was the kind of person who would accept reality, but she needed time to collect herself.

According to his sister-in-law, Serenity was like a handful of sand; the tighter he held on, the faster it slipped through his fingers.

Those advising him had been subtly reminding him of his overbearing nature.

Ring, ring, ring…

Chapter 845

Zachary’s phone began to ring.

He glanced at the caller ID and saw that it was Brandt.

Concerned for Serenity’s well-being, Zachary quickly answered the call.

“Mr. Zachary, the missus’s friend, Ms. Sox, has arrived…”

“What brings her there?”

“Ms. Sox sent a truckload of chickens and ducks to the missus. The missus mentioned that she feels confined, so her only option is to raise some chickens at the villa to pass the time.”

Zachary was at a loss for words.

“In addition to the chickens and ducks, there are also cats and dogs. The dogs are huskies… I reminded the missus that you aren’t fond of furry animals, but it seems she didn’t heed my warning.”

Zachary paused for a moment before replying, “Tell the missus I’m on my way back. Ask Ms. Sox not to let the animals out of the truck. She should wait for my return.”

“Understood.”

After ending the call, Zachary sighed and murmured, “Seren, I’m willing to accept everything you’re doing, but I hope we can spend the rest of our lives together without torturing each other.”

After placing his phone back in his pocket, he looked at the sky and ground in the distance, making a decision.

He turned away from the window.

He exited his office.

Mr. Chaplin stood at the office door, carrying a stack of documents in his arms.

“Mr. York, you’ll need to manage these documents yourself,” Mr. Chaplin said with reluctance.
