Chapter 879
Serenity lifted her gaze to meet his eyes.
Unfortunately, Zachary turned away and walked off.
She stared blankly as he took long strides away, and the pain crept up on her.
Serenity was uncertain if the source of her hurt was him or herself.
Outside, Jasmine and Elisa were engaged in conversation when Zachary emerged from the shop, wearing a grim expression. Without acknowledging the girls, he headed straight for his usual vehicle—the Rolls Royce.
Although Zachary had dismissed his security team, the chauffeur remained on standby in case he needed a ride.
Noticing Zachary’s exit, the chauffeur stepped out of the car and opened the door for him.
In no time, Zachary and the Rolls Royce vanished from Jasmine and Elisa’s view.
The two girls exchanged glances in disbelief.
Quickly, they turned and hurried back into the shop.
Serenity was absent from behind the cash register. Her crafting tools lay quietly atop it, stained with blood. The scissors also bore traces of blood.
Had Serenity been injured?
“Seren.”
“Seren.”
Jasmine and Elisa called out to her as they ventured deeper into the room.
Serenity was in the restroom.
Earlier, Zachary had suddenly switched to an angry tone with her, but by the time she turned to look at him, he had already stormed out.
In her distraction, Serenity accidentally cut her finger with the scissors. The cut was deep enough to draw blood. She retrieved her go-to ointment, bandage, and antiseptic solution from the drawer to stop the bleeding. Using a cotton bud, she applied the antiseptic solution, then poured ointment over the injury before wrapping gauze around her finger.
Blood smeared across the table and her fingers, prompting her to head to the restroom to wash the blood off her hands.
“I’m here,” Serenity said as she emerged from the restroom.
“Are you hurt?” Jasmine asked, her voice filled with concern. “Let me see.”
Displaying her bandaged finger, Serenity acted as if nothing had happened and replied, “I accidentally cut myself with the scissors. It’s no big deal. It’s bleeding a little, but I’m fine.”
Jasmine lifted Serenity’s finger for a closer inspection. Despite the bandage, blood was seeping through the gauze. Distressed, she said, “It’s still bleeding. The cut must be deep. You need to go to the hospital to have it checked.”
“It’s fine. I put some ointment on it to stop the bleeding. It should stop soon,” Serenity replied.
She pulled her arm back and walked away, saying, “I’ll just redress my wound.”
Her two best friends followed her.
Back at her seat behind the cash register, Serenity grabbed a fresh roll of gauze and wrapped it around her finger.
“Seren, you really should have your wound checked and redressed at the hospital. You might need a tetanus shot too,” Jasmine insisted.
The sight of blood made Elisa feel queasy, as she was squeamish about it.
“I’m fine. There’s no need for that. I often get cuts on my fingers, and this is how I handle them. The cut will heal in a few days,” Serenity reassured her.
Jasmine scolded her, “It’s been years since you’ve had a cut. What did Zachary do to you? You nearly severed your finger.”
