Chapter 621:

From behind, a deep voice interjected, “Missing? Who’s missing?”

Turning around, they saw a strikingly handsome man. “And you are?”

A sharp sting across her cheek suddenly snapped Linsey back to consciousness.

“Time to wake up!”

Slowly, Linsey opened her eyes, her head pounding, and found herself staring into a pair of exhausted, bloodshot eyes.

Linsey’s pulse raced as she recognized the figure and exclaimed, “It’s you, one of the Lawson family’s household staff!”

Alexa stood up straight, her expression cold and indifferent. “I see you haven’t forgotten about me.”

Linsey tried to sit up but realized her wrists were restrained against the headboard of a plush hotel bed.

“What do you want from me?” Linsey’s voice was calm yet resolute.

Alexa remained silent.

Suddenly, a knock echoed through the hotel room. Alexa moved to answer it.

Linsey’s eyes widened as Carol walked in, flanked by several muscular men. It was the same woman she had seen at the restaurant not long ago.

“Carol, did you really have your maid abduct me?” Linsey’s voice trembled with anger. “You realize this is illegal, don’t you? You can’t just act as if you can do anything you please!”

Carol sat down beside the bed, her expression unreadable, and whispered, “Why must you always oppose me, Linsey?” She reached out, gently brushing Linsey’s cheek.

Linsey recoiled at the touch, her alarm clear.

Without warning, Carol grabbed Linsey by the neck and pulled her close.

Linsey gasped, her eyes locked on Carol’s contorted face.

Fiercely, Carol demanded, “Tell me, Linsey! Why do you always get under my skin?” Her voice was rough and strained, every word cutting painfully.

Taking a deep breath, Linsey understood that provoking Carol now could make things much worse.

If only someone noticed her disappearance quickly, Collin would eventually find out…

For now, Linsey knew her best strategy was to stall for time and hope for rescue. Despite the tension, she kept her composure and redirected the conversation. “Carol, were you aware that Jeffery has fallen ill?” She carefully sidestepped Carol’s previous question, realizing there was no safe way to answer it.

Linsey had always maintained that she never intentionally provoked Carol, but now was not the moment for debate. She needed to shift the focus.

Carol’s expression changed instantly at the mention of her brother. “Jeffery is sick?”

With Carol’s hand still gripping her neck, Linsey pressed on. “Right after you left the restaurant, Jeffery was rushed to the hospital. He’s suffering from a severe blood disorder and urgently needs a bone marrow transplant.”
