"Serena!" Douglas didn't know why, but looking at her gave him an inexplicable sense of trust, a feeling that as long as she stepped in, everything would be effortlessly resolved.
But it was just a feeling.
The Phantom Hornets were ruthless. Even he had to tread carefully.
He really didn't want to see Serena take any risks.
"Douglas, since Serena said she'll handle it, just trust her." Nicholas stood up, a smirk playing on his lips. "As the man behind a successful woman, I have to support all her decisions unconditionally."
Douglas was speechless.
At a critical moment like this, nobody wanted to entertain his fragile fiancé act!
Watching Nicholas and Serena walk away, Douglas's gaze turned somber. He clenched his fists and strode after her.
No matter how capable his niece was, or that she had the Ghost Alliance backing her, he couldn't just let her step into such danger.
Especially since...
The Phantom Hornets were clearly after The Ghost Alliance Neural Chip.
If they found out the chip was in her hands, she would be in even graver danger!
Back at the hotel.
Serena crooked a finger at Nicholas.
Without a word, Nicholas understood and immediately handed her his booted laptop.
Serena adjusted the screen, her fingers flying across the keyboard.
Her hands moved so fast they were practically a blur.
Douglas stared in shock. What was she doing?
His eyes fell on the screen, where dizzying lines of code scrolled rapidly.
His astonishment deepened.
Fast!
Too fast!
He couldn't even make out what commands she was entering.
"Serena..." He swallowed hard. "They are The Phantom Hornets. Even if you know your way around hacking you can t just track them. Those guys.might be psychos, but they're incredibly skilled. Stay out of this. I can handle it."
"How exactly will you handle it, Douglas?” Serena didn't stop typing, not even tooking up. "Are you going to take your men and charge in blindly you said it yourself, if they dared to kidnap him, they're fully prepared. Going in there is a death sentence."
Douglas knew that perfectly well.
Which was exactly why he couldn't let her take the fall!
"Besides, Douglas..."
Serena hit one final key before lazily lifting her gaze to him. "Your
so-called mortal enemies are just a bunch of losers beat into begging. for mercy years ago."
The girl's voice was cool and steady, laced with an arrogant, untouchable confidence.
Douglas froze. "What?"
Serena ignored him, returning her attention to the screen.
The complex code vanished.
In its place was a crystal-clear 3D map.
A red dot flashed on the screen.
The display shifted again, bringing up another layout.
"Found them." Serena scoffed. "After all these years, their security system is still garbage. They haven't improved at all."
"Did they really think a simple signal jammer would stop me? Naive."
Douglas stared at the map, completely dumbfounded. "They... they use military- grade encryption..."
It had taken him three years, millions of dollars, and a team of top-tier hackers just to scratch the surface of their hideout.
