Chapter1343

Rosaimmediatelylooked up and, upon seeingJoe,let out asighofrelief.

“Ned,you’refinally here. I was so scareddoingallthosetestsalone.”

“Whatdid the doctor say?” Joe asked.

“We’re waiting on one test result. If all is well,I’llbe in surgery this afternoon,” Rosa replied

quickly.

Joe simply nodded.

Seeing his somewhat distant expression, Rosa felt anxious. She couldn’t help but ask, “Yesterday,

you said you had something to tell me after my surgery. Could you tell me now?”

“After the surgery,” Joe replied directly.

Rosa’s heart skipped a beat. “Could you give me a hint? I’m curious. Are we getting married right

after my surgery?”

She looked intently at him as she tested the waters with her question.

Joe frowned slightly before saying, “Focus on your surgery. We’ll discuss everything after that.”

His firm tone made her feel cold. It wasn’t about their marriage. His reaction had shown that he

hadn’t even considered it.

“Ned, be honest with me. Is there someone else? I’m about to undergo surgery, and I need the

truth. Don’t lie to me,” Rosa asked nervously.

Joe’s expression turned cold, his gaze steely. “You need to stay calm.”

Without another word, he turned and walked out of the room.

Rosa didn’t even have the chance to call him back as she watched him leave so resolutely. She

was in a daze, as if she was in a dream. She had a strong, unsettling feeling that he had serious

doubts about his identity,or perhaps he was already convinced that he wasn’t Ned.

Calvin entered the room as Rosa’s mind raced.

“Ms. Reese, Mr. Sowle has some business to attend to and will return in about an hour. He asked

me to stay with you,so if you need anything, please let me know. I’ll do my best to assist you.”

Rosa bit her lip as she looked at Calvin, her eyes glistening with tears. “You work with him every

day. So, you’d know best if he’s actually busy or if he just doesn’t want to be here with me. Does he

hate being with me this much?”

She only wanted to know what he intended to say. What was wrong with that? Did he really have

toavoidher?

Calvincouldn’tanswer her question.HefeltthatonlyJoecould answerthat.

Fortunately, shedidn’tpress further. So, Calvin breathed a sigh ofrelief.

Rightontime, an hour later,Ned returned to the room. The nurses had just started to prepare Rosa

forhersurgery.

Rosa looked genuinely scared when she was about to be pushed into surgery.

“Ned,I’ll see you after the surgery, right? You’ll be waiting outside for me, right?”

“I will. Don’t worry, everything will be fine,” Joe replied.

Rosa looked into his eyes, looking for something. But there wasn’t even the slightest hint of concern in them.

It had been three years, but he still didn’t have any feelings for her.
