Skylar had assumed that Sadie would succumb to her illness in the hospital, but it turned out Peter had beaten her to death instead.

“They want you to go there again?Iwill send Paul to the hospital,” Joe said, his voice tinged with frustration at being interrupted during theirdinner.

“It’s not Peter. The call’s from the police,” Skylar replied. She then relayed the details of the call to Joe. After that, she stood up and grabbed her bag. “You keep eating. I have to head to the police station to assist with their investigation.”

“I’m coming with you,” Joe said, standing up as well.

Vera watched from the restaurant entrance as they drove off, her bag clutched tightly in her hands.

The sight of Joe’s attentiveness to Skylar unsettled her–Joe not only opened the car door for Skylar but also drove her himself.

Did he even realize what he was doing? Did he know about Skylar’s complicated relationship with Aiken and Rowan? Did he truly not care at

all?

Vera had always believed Skylar to be manipulative, and now it appeared she was quite skilled at charming men.

A discomfort lodged in Vera’s throat, an unease she couldn’t shake.

She couldn’t reconcile Joe’s feelings for another woman, especially someone who was always scheming and flattering men.

Upon arriving at the police station, Skylar insisted that Joe waited for her outside.

As Skylar was about to leave the police station, she ran into Samuel.

Samuel looked visibly shocked and deeply shaken. His face still bore signs of fear. When he saw Skylar, he appeared dazed and disoriented.

Skylar glanced at him briefly before walking past him without saying a word.

When Samuel saw Skylar, he looked at her with a bitter expression and said, “Skylar, our family is finished. We’re completely ruined. Aren’t you happy about it? Do you see this as our retribution? I’m finished! Congratulations on being the one to have the last laugh.”

The Williams family was in shambles. Jeffrey was in prison, Peter was facing charges, and Kenny and Maisy were missing, their whereabouts unknown.

As for Samuel, he could never return to the entertainment industry, and his life in Jipsbug was effectively over.

Skylar took a few steps outside, then stopped. She turned back, her gaze cold and indifferent as she looked at the distraught Samuel.
