The female employee just shrugged with a light laugh. "You seem to remember every beautiful woman in the world."
The male employee's cheeks reddened a little. "No, seriously, I really think I've seen her before, but I just can't place her."
"What are you talking about back here?"
The manager's voice suddenly cut in from behind them.
The male employee jumped to explain. “Boss, I just thought that last customer looked really familiar."
Rose Ward shot him a glance. "That's the oldest pickup line in the book, you know."
He protested in a rush, "No, honestly, I mean it. She really did look familiar!"
Rose just waved him off. "Alright, but can you focus on your work first?"
He closed his mouth, clearly frustrated, and muttered a soft, “Okay."
Meanwhile, no matter how wild things were getting online, Emily Blair didn't bother to check the gossip herself. She preferred to wait quietly, letting the rumors reach their peak on their own.
Thanks to Emily's viral posts, every last scrap of dirt from Ryan Cox's past was being dragged into the spotlight. The internet was buzzing, and people couldn't get enough of the drama; the feeding frenzy only grew with each passing day.
But Emily guarded the real bombshell-Ryan Cox's connection with Donna Thomas -refusing to let even a hint of it slip online.
"These so-called business elites, huh? Look how much money they rake in."
"How come nobody's investigating him? It's like he's totally untouchable."
"Ryan Cox has always been shady. Someone needs to dig into his dealings; this guy's a big fish."
Lucas Cox, on the other hand, couldn't sit still. Over and over, he stormed into Vertex International, making a scene, but every time, Emily Blair and Elizabeth Wilson managed to send him packing with just a few pointed words.
Watching Lucas stalk off in a rage, Elizabeth shook her head. "I think we're just about there. Ryan Cox's scandals top the trending lists everywhere. The authorities have got to be taking notice by now."
Emily's tone was calm. "Let's wait a little longer. The moment the Bureau calls us, that's when we move."
No sooner had she spoken than her phone lit up with a call from an unfamiliar number.
Emily and Elizabeth exchanged a glance. Emily answered, slow and composed.
But it wasn't the Bureau. Instead, a furious middle-aged man's voice exploded through the speaker.
Ryan Cox's roar was so loud Emily had to hold the phone away from her ear. "Emily Blair! This is your doing, isn't it? All this trash online-you started it!"
Emily's voice was almost lazy. "I'm sorry, Mr. Cox, I'm not sure what you're talking about."
He was practically spitting with rage. "Don't play dumb! Nobody else would go this far. You're trying to ruin me, you witch!"
"I'm telling you, take down all the trending topics you bought and every single video -do you hear me?! Delete them, now!"
Emily just smiled. "Why so anxious, Mr. Cox? If you've done nothing wrong, there's nothing for anyone to find, right? Just ignore the noise online and go about your day."
Ryan's voice dropped to a growl. "I don't care what you say. Take those videos down, or I swear you'll regret it."
Emily's voice was light, almost playful. "Please don't be upset, Mr. Cox. I wish I could help, but it's not like I control what people want to see. I've been busy working these days—barely have time to go online. Besides, trends fade fast. Give it a few days and people will move on."
She could hear Ryan seething on the other end. “Emily Blair, quit playing innocent. This is all your doing. You're pushing me to the edge."
"Delete those videos now. I know you can. Do it!"
Emily replied in a mild, almost indifferent tone. “That's not really fair, Mr. Cox. Social media is for sharing. If people want to post, it's not like I can stop them. Don't you think?"
Ryan's voice turned cold. "Just you wait."
He hung up.
Elizabeth let out a low whistle. "Emily, your ability to get under his skin just keeps getting better."
Emily just laughed and tucked her phone away. "Let's get back to work."
