So, she nodded.
The housekeeper went to make the call. Claire went to the restroom to wash her face, forcing a smile in front of the mirror.
She didn't want the old woman to know she had been crying.
Felix arrived quickly. When he rushed into the hospital room, Claire was feeding Old Mrs. Quigley some Apple & Ginger Juice.
It was supposed to soothe her lungs and ease the coughing.
The smile on the old woman's face instantly vanished when she saw Felix. "What are you doing here?"
"Get out. I don't want to look at you."
Felix was long used to the old woman despising him, so he didn't take it to heart. "Grandma, why didn't you tell me sooner that you weren't feeling well?"
The old woman sneered. "Ha, what good would telling you do? Doesn't that little manipulator take up all your attention? How could you possibly have time for an old hag with one foot in the grave?"
"Hush, hush! Grandma, you're going to live to be a hundred." Claire quickly tried to ward off the bad luck.
The old woman immediately comforted her, "I'm just scaring him."
Claire chuckled. "It's almost time to eat. I'll go buy some food."
The old woman knew Claire just didn't want to be in the same room as Felix, so she nodded in agreement. "I want some Madeleines."
"Okay, I'll go get some."
Claire got up and left. From start to finish, she didn't look directly at Felix, not even sharing a passing glance.
Once she left the room, she checked her phone for nearby restaurants. There was actually a place selling Madeleines not too far away-a thirty-minute round trip at most.
The restaurant offered delivery, but Claire decided to walk there herself.
For no other reason than she simply didn't want to run into Felix.
She figured half an hour would be enough. Felix wouldn't stay long anyway; he still had to get back to the office.
But to be safe and avoid overlapping with him, Claire deliberately took her time.
After buying the Madeleines, she lingered in the hospital lobby for a while.
When she felt enough time had passed, she headed toward the elevators.
At that exact moment, Madeline and her mother were coming down from an upper floor.
Madeline was hospitalized here because of her injured finger.
Jean Rollins was questioning Madeline, "You're hurt, and Mr. Quigley didn't even come to see you?"
Madeline replied, "He's busy with a crucial project right now and can't step away. Plus, it's just a minor injury."
But Jean still felt Felix wasn't paying enough attention to her. "So what if
it's minor? Even if it's just a scrape he should still be showing concern.

Madeline wasn't as anxious as her mother. "The fact that he chose to believe me yesterday proves everything. Remember when claire miscarried, he didn't even go see her"
Hearing this, Jean felt reassured. "If Mr. Quigley cares about you that much, why hasn't he divorced that

But yesterday, Claire told her that she had already asked Felix for a divorce. They
had even come close to finalizing it.
If she hadn't called Felix that day...
And after that, it was Felix who kept dragging his feet on the divorce.
This left Madeline feeling deeply insecure.
"I'm not exactly sure what the reason is."
Jean grew anxious. "Don't let him drag it out! A man's novelty only lasts for a few
years. Once it fades, it's gone. What if someone else shows up?"
Madeline was just as desperate.
She was so desperate she had even considered seducing Felix.
But she simply hadn't found the right opportunity.
She didn't want to dwell on the topic, so she brushed it off. "Is my food here yet? I'm starving to death."
"It's here, it's here. I see the delivery guy."
Just as Jean finished speaking, her expression rapidly darkened.
Because she spotted Claire.
