Eleanor said nothing more, turning to open the door and go inside, closing it behind her.
lan stood there for a moment before turning and leaving.
Yeaton Manor.
Roland Yeaton had come home tonight in a foul mood. He had no patience for his sobbing wife and was there to demand she sign the divorce papers.
Faye Yeaton was in her room when a maid burst in. "Faye, you have to go see your parents! I think they're fighting!"
Faye rushed out of her room and toward the master bedroom. When she pushed the door open, she saw her father pinning her mother to the bed, trying to force her to sign a document.
Faye was stunned by the scene. Her mother was held down, her hair a mess, tear tracks staining her face. Her father's face was contorted with rage as he clutched the papers. "Sign it," he snarled. "Don't make me get rough."
"Dad, what are you doing?!" Faye screamed, rushing forward and shoving him with all her might.
Caught off guard, Roland stumbled back. Seeing it was Faye only fueled his rage. "Faye, this is none of your business. Stay out of it."
"How could you do this to Mom?" Faye stood protectively in front of her mother, trembling with anger.
"How could I?" Roland sneered, waving the documents. "Because I'm the one in charge of this family now, and your mother is signing this divorce agreement today." Her mother was on the bed, sobbing uncontrollably, her face a mask of despair. Faye looked at her father's cold, ruthless face, and her heart turned to ice. It was clear he couldn't wait to run off with his mistress and their illegitimate son.
"Mom, go out for a bit. I need to talk to Dad," Faye said.
Her mother shot Roland a hateful glare. "You heartless bastard. After all the years I've been with you."
Faye shut the door as her mother left. Roland was already looking at her impatiently. "Faye, stay out of adult affairs."
"Dad, stop pretending. I know all about you and Cathie, and I've even met your illegitimate son," Faye said with scornful mockery.
Roland's face fell. "Faye, what do you know? Who told you this?"

Faye smirked inwardly but kept her composure. Dad, there's something else you might not know. Horace has proof of your bribery and embezzlement, if he reports it you could be in prison for over a decade. But he's my boyfriend now, and for my sake, he's willing to give you a chance."
Roland's expression tightened, a flicker of murderous intent in his eyes. He remembered taking Horace to a few private dinners where he hadn't been particularly discreet.
He couldn't believe the kid would dare to collect evidence against him.
He looked at his daughter, suspicious. "Is that true?"
Faye softened her tone. "You're my father, after all. I don't want to see you go to prison. If you're willing to turn things around, I can arrange a meeting with Horace so you two can talk and figure out how to get rid of the evidence."
Roland was genuinely scared. The bribery evidence involved amounts up to ten million dollars—not a small sum. Even if he went bankrupt, it would be a huge mess to clean up.
"Fine. Set up a meeting. I'll talk to him," Roland relented, forced to believe his daughter was trying to help.
"Tell Horace I'll give him some money tonight. He needs to come alone," Roland instructed.
"Dad, how much are you planning to give him?"
"Three hundred thousand."
Faye scoffed internally. Her father had stolen a billion dollars to run away with his mistress, yet he was being cheap about this.
Perfect. It was time to put her plan into motion.
"Okay, I'll call him. I'll have him meet you alone tonight," Faye sighed. "But you have
to promise not to contact him yourself before I do. I'm worried he'll go into hiding."
Roland nodded, his expression
easing slightly. "Faye, talk some
sense into you
mater. As long as
She signs, I'll make sure you two are
taken care of." With that, he left the
room.

Behind him, a calculating, vicious look crossed Faye's face. She gritted her teeth,
pulled out her phone, and walked to the window to dial Horace's number.
