Realizing the unbelievable coincidence, Elder Mrs. Lancaster's face filled with remorse. "This is our fault. The Lancaster family owes you an apology. Your son was injured like this because he was protecting my granddaughter-in-law.”

"What?" Mr. and Mrs. Jones were stunned.

Anastasia stepped forward.

She had been wondering what this Mr. West's motive was for approaching her. Now, she finally understood.

He wasn't Mr. West at all; he was a Jones.

Looking at the young woman who had stepped forward, Mrs. Jones Sr. was filled with uncertainty. She asked tentatively, "What is your relationship with Colby?"

She knew her son well. Colby would never risk his life to protect a stranger for no

reason.

Anastasia opened her mouth, but decided against revealing what she already knew about her connection to Colby. Instead, she said, "Mr. Jones and I don't know each other well. We only met a week ago. Earlier, he was feeling unwell and needed to go to the hospital, but his driver was unavailable, so he asked to borrow my car. I never expected an accident on the way."

"At the time, I was shocked that he would shield me like that. Mr. Jones is a good man, and I'm very grateful to him.”

Hearing her explanation, Mr. and Mrs. Jones could only assume Colby had acted out of a moment of kindness.

Meanwhile, standing behind them, Rena's gaze was fixed on Anastasia, her eyes burning with venomous hatred.

The elderly couple might not understand, but she knew exactly what was going on. She just hadn't expected Colby to go this far-to be willing to give up his own life for Anastasia!

Anastasia suddenly turned her head. "Do I know you? Why are you looking at me like that?"

Instantly, everyone's attention turned to Rena.

Rena quickly composed herself and said coldly, "You got my brother hurt like this. What's wrong with me staring at you?"

Anastasia replied, "I will never forget Mr. Jones's act of saving my life.”

As she spoke, a cold glint flashed in her eyes.

She had been wondering who in the Jones family wanted to harm her and her mother.

Rena and Colby were her prime suspects.

But now, Colby's actions had dispelled most of her suspicions about him. Rena, on the other hand, had looked at her as if she wished Anastasia had died in the crash She didn't buy her excuse for a second!

"By the way, this wasn't an accident," she announced suddenly. "Hubby, did you call the police?"

“What?” Mr. Jones Sr.'s face darkened. “Not an accident? Are you saying someone tried to murder my son?!"

Anastasia paused, then corrected

him, "The target was likely me. If Mr.

Jones hadn't been protecting me, he

wouldnt have been so severely. injured."

"But you just said it was my Colby who borrowed your car to go to the hospital, and you only went along to help," Mrs. Jones Sr. countered. "So it's very possible they were trying to harm my Colby, and you were the one who got caught in the middle."

"Either way, since this wasn't an accident, we must find the person behind it!"

The Lancaster and Jones families were in complete agreement.

Anastasia glanced past Mr. and Mrs. Jones and saw, just as she expected, a flicker of panic in Rena's eyes.
