Now that Anastasia had a theory, the investigation was much simpler.

It didn't take long for her to get the results-the man's name was Boris Scott, and he was indeed Susan's ex-husband, the biological father of Lennon and Crystal!

People had said Susan's ex-husband was dead, but now she knew the truth. He was very much alive, just recently released from prison.

According to the file, Boris had been imprisoned years ago for robbery and murder and had only been released last month.

He went straight to his hometown upon release, but his wife and children were long gone.

After more than two weeks of asking around, he found out that Susan had taken their two children and married into a wealthy family, so he had tracked them down to Riverton.

Anastasia guessed that while Lennon might not know, Crystal most likely already knew Boris was in Riverton. Otherwise, she wouldn't have been so tense earlier.

She pursed her lips and set the matter aside for now. After all, it had nothing to do with her.

"Ma'am, a Ms. Lawson is here to see you," a maid suddenly came to report.

Naomi?

Anastasia waved a hand. "Tell her I'm not available."

"But Lady is downstairs with her."

Anastasia had no choice but to stand up. "I see. I'll be right down."

Downstairs, sure enough, Naomi was chatting with Lady.

As Anastasia approached, she heard Lady sigh with a look of fondness, "...Yes, back when you and Harrison used to walk to and from school together, you were just a little girl. In the blink of an eye, you're all grown up.

As soon as she saw Anastasia, Lady's face lit up with a smile and she beckoned her over. "Ana, come here."

Naomi's smile tightened almost imperceptibly as she also greeted her, "Ms. Sterling."

Anastasia gave her a dismissive nod and sat down next to Lady, saying sweetly, "Grandma."

Lady smiled and lovingly took her hand. She turned to Naomi and said, "In the blink of an eye, not only has Naomi grown up, but Harrison has gotten married too. Time flies."

"This is Ana, Harrison's wife. I'm sure you've met. She's the one Harrison chose himself. I don't know what luck he had to find me such a wonderful and dear granddaughter-in-law."

"You were just saying you can never find Harrison, right? Well, he's

always busy these days. He's got his own mind now, and I can't control him. But if you're ever truly bored, you can always come visit Ana. It'll give her some company too. She's new to Riverton and doesn't have many friends yet. She doesn't go out much, and I worry she'll get bored at home."

Lady's earnest words made the smile on Naomi's face freeze. Anastasia nearly burst out laughing.

She had known something was off when she overheard them talking. Why was Naomi reminiscing about the past? It wasn't as if there had ever been anything between her and Harrison, and even if there had been, he was marred now. What was she trying to do?

Mentally praising, "Well played, Grandma," Anastasia smiled and said, "Grandma, don't put Ms. Lawson on the spot. I've heard she has a job. She wouldn't have time to come hang out with me."
