Lizetta knew that while she was unconscious for two days and nights, Jerome wouldn't have just sat around doing nothing.

Jerome's gaze turned heavy. "Get some rest first. This isn't urgent."

Lizetta knew he was only worried because she had just woken up; she was weak, and he didn't want her experiencing emotional turmoil.

But the memory of the car plunging through the guardrail into the deep lake, the sheer terror of being sealed inside as freezing water quickly filled the cabin, and the suffocating despair of having no way out-how could she possibly rest peacefully?

Her lips parted to argue, but Remington stood up, sat on the edge of the bed, and pulled her into his arms. He looked over at Jerome.

"She's not that fragile. Tell us what's going on."

Remington had spent the last two days solely focused on Lizetta, completely tuning out the outside world. He had no idea what the situation was with the Madden family or what Jerome had uncovered.

Seeing this, Jerome nodded. "The car has been pulled from the water. The police took it in to determine the exact cause of the mechanical failure, and they'll provide an objective report. I also pulled some strings and had a trusted specialist sit in on the inspection."

Lizetta nodded slightly. "It wasn't just the brakes. In the end, the doors and windows wouldn't open at all."

Whoever was behind this hadn't intended to leave her with even a sliver of hope for survival.

Hearing Lizetta confirm this, both Jerome and Remington's already grim expressions darkened considerably.

Remington's arm around Lizetta's waist tightened fiercely, a chilling frost settling in his eyes.

"The moment heard what

happened, took a team straight to Amber Hitl Estate and locked down everyone on the premises.

Conveniently enough all the security cameras were working perfectly but Andrea parked that specific car right in the only blind spot in the courtyard. The cameras didn't catch anyone approaching the vehicle at all."

"So, you found absolutely nothing? No suspicious people?"

Lizetta wasn't actually too surprised by this. Whoever orchestrated this would have planned it flawlessly.

It was just like the incident with Joy-they had found minor traces but no hard evidence.

But Jerome let out a cold scoff. "I wouldn't say we caught no one. We did catch someone sneaking around."

"Who?"

"Your former adoptive mother, Jolin Gardenia," Jerome replied.

Lizetta froze. She hadn't heard that name in a long time and couldn't even

remember the last time she saw Jolin.

She never expected Jolin to be the prime suspect.

Once the shock faded, a cynical laugh escaped her lips. "They really know how to pick a scapegoat."

"The incident made a lot of noise.

The police are involved now, and Jolin has been detained. But her mental state isn't great. After two days of interrogation she actually confessed to tampering with the car. To be fair, she has a very strong motive.

She claims that you caused the death of Hans Gardenia, ruined her family, and left her homeless and suffering. She said she couldn't go on living and came back to find her biological daughter Andrea Onlyt See you and Andrea walking together.
