Remington ground his teeth, a dark cloud of sheer frustration washing over his face. He grabbed Lizetta's hand, pressed a firm kiss to her palm, and then shot up from the bed, marching toward the door like a man ready to commit murder.
He wanted to see exactly whose head was screwed on a little too tightly today.
The door was yanked open with violent force. Cedric stood in the hallway, his knuckles still raised, nearly rapping right into his boss's rock-hard chest.
Cedric instantly snatched his hand back. He was absolutely certain that if his knuckles had made contact with that freezing aura, his fingers would have shattered into ice cubes.
"This had better be life or death!"
Remington's tone was murderous, radiating the exact energy of a man whose intimate moments had been rudely interrupted.
Cedric practically glued his chin to his chest, not daring to peek inside the room.
"It's about the police station..."
Then, from his downward vantage point, Cedric accidentally caught sight of his boss's trousers, noting the very obvious, frustrated evidence of interrupted passion.
Cedric aggressively pivoted. "Actually, it's nothing urgent! I can come back later..." He spun on his heel, fully prepared to flee for his life.
Sitting up in bed and having fully straightened her clothes, Lizetta heard him mention the police station and instantly knew it was about her.
She quickly called out, "Cedric, come in, sit down, and take your time."
Cedric froze, his raised foot hovering in the air, completely unsure of where to step.
He still refused to look up, acutely aware that the moment Lizetta spoke, the glare boring into his skull turned into a literal executioner's blade.
Cedric desperately wanted to go inside, knowing that as long as Lizetta was there, his life was completely guaranteed.
But without his boss's explicit nod, he simply didn't dare.
Just as Cedric debated whether he should politely decline and run, the towering iceberg blocking the doorway finally shifted.
"Get in. Do I need to roll out a red carpet?"
Remington's voice was frigid. Cedric let out a nervous chuckle before practically floating into the room, choosing to stand right next to the chair closest to the bed.
He needed to stay firmly within the protective forcefield of the boss's wife.
"Mrs. Dashiell, are you feeling better? I've been wanting to check on you. Since you survived this disaster, your future is bound to be paved with roses and endless fortune."
Lizetta smiled. "Thank you for the kind words, Cedric. Please, sit down. Don't just stand there."
Cedric carefully pulled out a chair, testing the waters by only perching on the very edge of the seat.
But the second he sat down, Lizetta spoke again.
"You look parched, Cedric. Remington, could you pour him some water?"
She noticed Cedric looking exhausted and deeply dehydrated, likely from running around handling the fallout for the past two days. His lips were chapped, and he had
unconsciously licked them multiple times since walking in.
Lizetta casually ordered Remington around without a single ounce of hesitation, and
while Remington didn't react, Cedric nearly had a heart attack.
His half-seated rear end completely slid off the edge of the chair, nearly sending him crashing to the floor.
"I could never ask Mr. Dashiell to pour me water! I'll do it..."
He tried to scramble up, but a heavy weight clamped down on his shoulder. Remington's large hand held him in place.
"Sit."
Cedric froze in the chair, thoroughly petrified. He stared in absolute disbelief as his untouchable, aristocratic billionaire boss actually walked over to the cabinet, poured a glass of water, and brought it back.
My god.
Cedric felt like he had witnessed a miracle. Before he even took a sip, his soul had ascended.
"So, Cedric, what were you saying about the police station?"
Lizetta's voice pulled him back to reality. He looked at her with sheer worship, gazing at her as though she were a living deity.
"Ma'am, it's like this. The day after your accident, the police detained Andrea and interrogated her
non-stop. But she must have been prepped because she refused fo

break. Officer Tänner just called to say her holding period expired, and by law, they had to release her. However..."
