"Feeling better?"

He gazed down at her, his dark eyes brimming with amusement. Lizetta shot him a spectacular glare.

Remington chuckled softly against her. "What other lessons does my girlfriend have for me? I'm all ears."

Lizetta rolled her eyes again in silent protest and turned her head away, refusing to look at him.

He was putting on a great show of being attentive, but he wasn't taking this seriously at all. He just kept distracting her with kisses and hugs.

But it was as if Remington could read her mind. The man grabbed her by the waist and lifted her up.

He positioned her so she was straddling his lap, then framed her small face with his hands.

"Everything you said, I've etched into my memory. Liz, trust me. From now on, no matter what happens, I will never hide anything from you again. Good or bad, we carry it together, alright? I will never make unilateral decisions or arrogantly assume I know what's best for you. I will tell you everything clearly and fully respect your wishes. Okay?"

He spoke with such absolute sincerity that the last of the anger lingering in Lizetta's chest finally evaporated.

She nodded. "Okay, but I'm recording that for evidence."

True to her word, the woman actually pulled out her phone, opened the voice memo app, and raised an eyebrow, gesturing for Remington to repeat himself.

Remington looked thoroughly amused, but his gaze remained endlessly affectionate as he solemnly repeated his vow.

Lizetta saved the recording and smiled.

"I am a generous ruler, so I'll let you off the hook this once."

"Thank you, my queen," Remington laughed. The man leaned back against the

sofa, an expression of total adoration on his face.

Lizetta gave him a playful glare before her brows knitted together slightly.

"Where is Hanna now?"

Previously, everyone had told her that Hanna had accompanied Joseph abroad.

There was no question that Lizetta harbored a deep hatred for Hanna, and she had almost spat out her full name.

But looking at Remington, she considered his feelings enough to phrase it neutrally.

After all, that was Remington's biological mother. Remington's eyes softened, and he stroked Lizetta's hair.

"You don't need to walk on eggshells around me. She is your enemy. You can call her whatever you want; it's exactly what she deserves."

Lizetta clenched her fists slightly. "You're right. I hate her. I could live a hundred lifetimes and never forgive here one make peace with her

Speaking of this made Lizetta's heart sink heavily.

She hadn't known any of this when she agreed to be his girlfriend.

Now that she knew the truth, making peace with Hanna was permanently off the table.

She would never forgive the person who killed her baby, even if that person was Remington's mother.

But what about Remington?

That woman was his mother. No matter how furious he was, he couldn't just erase that fact.

With someone like that standing between them, and with so much heavy family baggage, wouldn't they eventually end up fighting and

resenting each other?

Lizetta felt a sudden urge to pull back, her certainty shattering.

Every single thought was written plainly in her eyes. The flush that had just warmed

her cheeks rapidly drained away as the reality set in.

Her body stiffened, and she even made a subtle move to push herself off his lap.

Remington immediately sensed her withdrawal, and the relaxed ease vanished from his handsome face.

He clamped a hand securely around her waist, abandoning his relaxed posture against the sofa to lean forward and lock his arms tight around her.

"After what she did, do you really think I could ever forgive her? Liz, do not write me

off and do not write off our future! Please?"
