Lady Wilson frowned before cautioning, “That’s quite a plan, but remember, Charlie has strong connections in Aurous Hill. If we go through with this, he will find a way to retaliate. Plus, he’s close with Don Albert, the underground crime boss. Even if we gain Mr. Webb’s favor, how will we protect ourselves if Don Albert decides to take action against us?”

Christopher’s expression turned anxious as he added, “We absolutely cannot go down that path. Don Albert must already realize how crucial Claire is to Charlie. If he hasn’t targeted her yet, it’s likely because he fears Charlie’s wrath!”

“Don’t forget that Charlie killed Donald’s brother-in-law and several others for trafficking children. If anyone harms Claire, wouldn’t Charlie seek revenge and eliminate them?”

“Exactly!” Harold chimed in, panic creeping into his voice. “Wendy, have you lost your mind? If we proceed with this plan, our entire family will pay the price!”

Wendy felt a wave of fear wash over her as her family’s words sank in.

In her moment of hatred towards Claire, she had wanted nothing more than to ruin her cousin’s life.
