Really!
Mai was abruptly halted by a rhetorical question from Isaac Cameron.
He too found this situation quite perplexing.
Why would anyone steal from themselves?
Why would you take a compass from your own family?
If someone lacks knowledge, they would likely opt for cash. Who in their right mind would choose an old compass that holds no significant age or value?
As these thoughts crossed his mind, the first person Mai considered was Felix.
He pondered whether Felix had secretly taken his ancestral compass.
The surname is well-known. Though not particularly skilled in Feng Shui, perhaps they wished to compensate for their shortcomings in that realm by focusing on his treasured compass!
With this in mind, Mai hesitated to confront Felix directly and instead turned to the police for assistance. He quickly asked Isaac Cameron, “How long until the police arrive?”
Isaac Cameron checked the time and replied, “I estimate they’ll be here in about three minutes. Just hold on a bit longer.”
“Okay!” Mai nodded in agreement.
Three minutes later, a young man with a commanding presence entered the room.
This individual was Charlie, who had just reached Shangri-La.
Charlie stepped inside, surveyed the room, and then fixed his gaze on Mai, asking, “Are you Mr. Mai?”
Seeing the heroism in Charlie’s demeanor, Mai assumed he was a plainclothes police officer and quickly responded, “Hello, officer, I’m Mai. Something very important has been stolen!”
Charlie acknowledged him and addressed Isaac Cameron and the other staff present, saying, “I need to examine the scene now. All other individuals should exit.”
Isaac Cameron feigned ignorance and quickly replied, “Understood.”
After this, he ushered the other staff out and closed the door behind them.
Inside the room, only Charlie, Mai, and his grandparents remained.
Once the door was shut, Mai couldn’t help but ask Charlie, “Officer, are you the only one from the police here?”
Charlie looked at Mai, then his expression shifted to a more serious tone: “Since there are no outsiders, I’ll be direct. I’m not a police officer. I’m here because I have something important to discuss with you.”
Mai furrowed his brow and asked cautiously, “You’re not a police officer?! Who are you?! Do you have my compass?”
Charlie replied coldly, “Are you still worried about your compass? Listen closely: the next question I ask requires your honest answer. If you don’t comply, don’t just worry about the compass—your life could be at stake!”
Mike, who was nearby, immediately retorted, “I don’t care who you are, but watch your language! Otherwise, don’t blame me for being harsh!”
Charlie shot a glance at Mike and pointed a finger at his forehead.
In an instant, a surge of spiritual energy surged and blocked Mike’s central nervous system. He didn’t even have time to react before losing all control of his body, becoming completely immobilized.
Fear filled Mike’s expression as he realized he couldn’t even open his mouth to speak!
Ignoring Mike, Charlie turned his attention back to the terrified Mai and stated coldly, “Master Mai, I’m aware of your background and the reason for your visit to Aurous Hill. I even know you were at Phoenix Mountain Cemetery last night. It’s crucial that you don’t attempt any tricks with me, or I will ensure your grandparents end up in Phoenix Mountain Cemetery tomorrow!”
