One of Souna’s posts received likes, while another had her comment reading: “Sister, have a smooth journey!”

However, Elaine suddenly felt a wave of sadness.

The fact that Souna’s likes and comments were visible even while she was on the plane confirmed two things: the Internet was functioning well, and no one else had bothered to comment on Elaine’s updates since takeoff.

This realization sparked anger in Elaine. She inwardly scolded, “Seriously?! I usually post pictures of wilting flowers from the park, and those get tons of likes. But today, here I am in a private jet, and no one acknowledges my trip? Ugh! It’s clearly jealousy!”

As the flight progressed, Elaine found it hard to relax or sleep.

Periodically, she would check her Moments, but even after flying over the United States, she still only had Souna’s one like and comment.

Frustrated, she nearly dropped her phone multiple times but ultimately had to face the truth.

To ease her disappointment, she told herself, “Hey, outside of family, how many supportive people are there in my circle? They’re just good people who can’t appreciate others! Hmph! If they don’t compliment me, I’ll just remove the post. Here I am, flying to the U.S. on a private jet—why would I need their approval? It’s absurd!”

In her thoughts, she discreetly checked her phone again. Finding no new likes or comments only deepened her irritation, leading her to toss the phone aside and close her eyes.

After a lengthy flight of more than ten hours, Elaine’s Gulfstream G650 finally touched down at Providence Airport in the United States.

At this point, it was already past ten o’clock in the evening, American time.

Charlie and Claire had just finished watching Stefanie Sun’s second concert in Boston and were driving back to Providence.

Charlie was already aware of Elaine’s itinerary, receiving updates as soon as her plane landed.

However, he knew Elaine would avoid telling him and Claire about her private jet arrival, opting to contact them only after disembarking.

Charlie wasn’t concerned about Elaine navigating customs alone; after all, she had attended university and likely possessed basic English skills.

Half an hour later, Claire’s phone rang with a call from the United States.

Not thinking much of it, she answered, saying in English, “Hi.”

Excitement radiated from Elaine’s voice on the other end: “Claire! It’s me! I’ve arrived in the United States!”

Claire was taken aback by her mother’s voice, and it took her a moment to respond, “Mom, when did you get to the U.S.? Why didn’t you tell us before you left?!”

Elaine replied with a smile, “I wanted to surprise you and Charlie! Plus, the flight was so long; if I mentioned it earlier, you would have worried about me. So, I decided to fly over first!”

For the first time, Claire noticed her mother’s thoughtfulness… realizing she was considering others’ feelings.

However, what Claire didn’t know was that Elaine was actually anxious about running out of money.

Quickly, Claire asked, “Mom, where are you? Is it the New York airport? Charlie and I will come to pick you up right now!”

Elaine responded, “I’m not in New York; I’m in Providence!”

“What?!” Claire exclaimed, surprised. “Mom, did you arrive on a private plane?”

“Exactly,” Elaine said, fabricating a story. “Didn’t you mention wanting to fly to New York first? So, I changed my plans!”

Claire inquired further, “Have you gone through customs? Did you complete the entry formalities?”

“All done!” Elaine assured her. “I’m in the airport lobby. Can you come pick me up now? If it’s too difficult, I can take a taxi, but I didn’t have time to exchange dollars. I asked the flight attendant for some coins, so you can cover the fare when I arrive.”

Claire, not overthinking it, immediately asked Charlie, “Husband, Mom is at the airport. How far are we from there? Can we easily pick her up?”

“Sure,” Charlie replied after checking the navigation. “It’s convenient; we’re only ten minutes away from the airport.”

Claire quickly said, “Mom, Charlie and I are on our way back, just ten minutes from you. If you can wait at the airport for a bit, we’ll be there to pick you up!”

Elaine was thrilled and exclaimed, “Oh, that’s fantastic! I’ll be waiting for you!”
