Matthias's parents didn't sound like they were just being polite when they talked about Celeste. They genuinely seemed to be fond of her.
That surprised Narcissa. She frowned as she couldn't understand why they liked Celeste so much.
Sure, Celeste had published a few impressive academic papers and did seem capable, but there were plenty of people more outstanding than her. No matter how she looked at it, Celeste didn't seem like the ideal choice as their daughter-in-law.
Not long after Narcissa left, Matthias received a call from her older brother, Nathan Lackspur.
"I've already heard about what happened between my sister and Ms. Rodriguez. This matter was indeed Cissa's fault.
"To express our apology, I'd like to invite the two of you to dinner and let Cissa apologize properly to Ms. Rodriguez in person. May I ask if you are free?"
Like his sister, Nathan believed neither Matthias nor Celeste truly wanted to miss out on their project. In his view, once Celeste had vented her anger, Matthias would naturally move forward with cooperating with them.
And since Celeste had already made things difficult for his sister, even if she still held some grudges, she should be willing to put their personal grievances aside temporarily for the sake of cooperation.
So, although Nathan framed the dinner as an apology, what he really wanted was to discuss the cooperation with Matthias.
He didn't say it outright, but how could Matthias not understand his purpose?
Instead of contacting Celeste directly to solve the issue, they had approached him because they assumed he could make Celeste compromise for the sake of YodaVision.
Matthias smiled lightly. "Sorry, but the conflict between your sister and Cel isn't something I'm personally involved in. So, I can't make decisions on her behalf.
"If you want to mediate, it's better to speak to Cel directly. I wouldn't want to overstep."
Nathan paused. "Is Ms. Rodriguez still angry? Then what would it take for her to calm down? Mr. Yoder, my company is sincerely interested in cooperating with your company. If you have any thoughts, feel free to tett me directly."
"Sorry, but I really can't decide this for Cel. Why don't you ask her personally, Mr. Lackspur?"
Nathan fell silent for half a second. However, his tone remained steady as he spoke, "You're right, Mr. Yoder. It would indeed be more sincere for me to speak with Ms. Rodriguez directly."
After exchanging a few more polite words with Matthias, he hung up and called Celeste himself.
Celeste already knew he had contacted Matthias.
So, the moment she answered the call, she said directly, "Mr. Lackspur, there's no need to waste your effort. YodaVision will not cooperate with your company."
Nathan didn't expect her to be so blunt. "Ms Rodriguez, you intend to reject cooperating with us solely because of the conflict between you and my sister?"
"Yes."
Nathan laughed softly to himself, thinking Celeste really did have quite a temper. He could understand that much.
But in his opinion, it was a little too personal for her to cling so stubbornly to this issue, and she couldn't separate work from private matters.

Naturally, he was displeased, but since he was the one asking for help, he could only continue sincerely. "This matter was indeed Cissa's fault. Capologize on her behalf. Ms Rodriguez, if you are still noto satisfied, I can have Cissa personally apologize to you-"
"Mr. Lackspur, I've received your apology, but I don't accept it. Likewise, even if your
sister personally apologizes to me, I still won't accept it."
Before Nathan could continue, Celeste added, "I still have work to do. Goodbye, Mr. Lackspur."
With that, she hung up directly before Nathan could respond.
